Personalities and High-Souls

Writer's Comment: [I have included here, under Personalities and High-souls, an extract from a writing 30 September, 1984 by a personality who identifies himself or herself (it could be either) as a personality out of the same High-soul as that of which I am part, and who at one time lived a physical life. He or she stresses the point that he or she is completely independent of me and no less real for being absent from the physical body. I have included the extract here because, at a personal level, it relates directly to concepts associated with High-souls and the integrity of individual personalities.]

"It would be true to say that I am of the same High-soul as that of which you are part. It is not true, however, to say that I am part of, or linked in the chain of, your evolution through the process referred to in the earth as reincarnation. Do not get caught up in the idea that lives are simply a series of links built into some long molecule that eventually arrives at the conclusion of the series as one well-rounded and perfect personality. That is an erroneous but popular concept in the earth, and has been for a very long time. I once was where you are now, in physical life. But I am no less real for being absent from the physical body.

"If you desire to get out of the swamps of life, as a flat low plane, put effort into the will and choose to find new channels into the higher planes of reality through the mind. Do not assume that harmony with the High-soul can be achieved by means of this writing alone [only]. Many other channels are available and, indeed, should be developed. Each personality possesses the ability to communicate with the High-soul. It is of no immediate importance what channel is used so long as the objectives are clear. The High-soul desires the communication, but the will must enter and choose. No communication with the High-soul is permissable except through the will. Once the will enters and desires the channel to open, communication may [is allowed to] follow.

"What you need to keep clear in your mind is the idea of life in the earth being a sort of exercise by which you individualize a fragment of a High-soul in such a way as to make that fragment YOU, as for example versus ME, who am also a fragment of the same High-soul. See: I am not you, and you are not me. But we are both, along with a host of others, of the same High-soul. The High-soul is the real source out of which we both emerge.

"We are in fact quite different in many ways. Yet there are many ways in which we are of the very same essence. No orchestra could be successful if all the instruments were violins. There are many different pieces in a full orchestra. There are many different personalities in a High-soul. No two personalities are the same. I might add, no two High-souls are the same either. They in turn, again form a much higher orchestra.

"You might ask why I am writing this. The answer is, because you have a right to know. It is simply that you have sought truth without preconceived parameters. It is difficult to explain truth to a closed and religious, or political, or preconceived mind. I cannot explain much to you, for example, if you insist that I have no reality. Your reality in the physical life can benefit from my, and other, experiences but you must allow trust in the High-soul to flow through. There is every insight and direction and control, and every force and energy, and anything else you may need in your own total reality to put in place any and every event and experience you require in your life on earth to complete it successfully and end up just where you want to be. But a word of caution must be given here. Do not try to use this flow of energy to mess up anyone else's life.

"The higher your level of insight becomes the more you must always leave an open road to anyone who seeks you out for help. No one will benefit until they are ready to move ahead. And that is very well; they are allowed to rest and wait if they desire. The road is long. No need for anyone to get there until they desire to move out. When anyone needs your help they will find you on their own, and in their own time.

"You do have an obligation to help if and when asked. And that is what I am doing now ...see? You have seriously sought out information with an openness of mind. You are ready to move ahead. I am acting as your guide ... that is all. You may choose to use the information that I give or let it lay. There is no obligation on your part here. Move ahead at your own rate of speed.

"But how do you know that I am me, and not 'Captain Kangaroo'? A good point! Always keep your mind alert and critical. Do not accept everything you are told in the earth or from here. Evaluate whatever you are told. Accept what is yours and reject the balance. Who can tell you what to accept or reject? Pearls come out of clams, not from demigods. Explore the elements of your own mind. Those random thoughts that enter your mind are often 'fallout' ...or 'fallthrough' from your own High-soul. The High-soul is not attempting to direct your every step, but rest assured, it will allow your chosen steps to fall into place, one after the other. You need to have the feeling within yourself that you are going some place, and with a purpose. Whenever you begin to feel like a rock sinking in a swamp, you are doing the same thing as the rock ...just sinking. Later you will have to go through all that effort to lift the rock out. It is such heavy and unpleasant work. All the time you could have been on your merry way, gaining new insights into higher levels of life.

"Life is not intended to be a bed of roses nor, on the other hand, is it intended to be a time of deep plunging into another bed -- of despair or depression. So many people become preoccupied with depression and despair. We see the condition, but are not free to jump in and try to change it. Each one has the right to suffering, if they choose that reality. Do not get too up tight about life and its problems. That seems to be unlikely advice from the other side of the black curtain of death, I know. But if I were to dress up in my 'hair-shirt' and return to the physical earth, which I have no intention of doing, I would buy myself a good whistle or flute and learn to play it. There is no reason I know of to make your life in the earth a bed of drudgery or excessive hard work. Put energy into being alive, yes! Sing to yourself while you work if it helps. Dance on the back porch if you feel like it. But there is no reason to accept life as a great burden.

"Life becomes a burden only when you choose to believe that burden to be your reality. I know of no reason to plough along through drudgery or boredom. The bird that is joyful is more pleasant than the one that broods in silence 'above the chamber door'.

"One thing I do want to say. You should always give time to some form of meditation or relaxation every day. Do not shut yourself off from others, but always spend some minutes each day in exercising some form of meditation. The second thing I want to say is, always pay attention to the inner voice of guidance. There is an inner urging of which you may not be aware unless you learn to listen for it.

"Finally, let me point out the need to reach out to new endeavours. At all times be reaching out for the new thing that may add enrichment to your life. But do your reaching out with a high degree of discretion. Never reach out for someone else's branch or tree. Let each do his or her own reaching out. The man or woman who knows what everyone should reach out for is not going to solve your need for healthy exercises in your own personal life. Everyone needs to support the common goals of the social order in which they live, but that is not the area of our concern just now. Reach out in response to your inner needs for things you desire to achieve at this point in your life. Once you have satisfied those needs along your path of growth you will feel the urge to achieve in other directions ...or maybe more of the same. But don't make the error of flying off in all directions at one time.

"We have been where you are; we know your problems related to life in the physical environment. We can say to you that there is nothing we would want to repeat in the earth-life that is not abundantly more available here. But what you achieve in your earth-life contributes greatly to your life over here. Take time off to watch the flowers grow. Your life is not intended to be a treadmill to some social cause or industrial effort. Enjoy the effort you make; make the effort you enjoy. No two lives are identical. You have the privilege of writing the script for your life. Go ahead, give it a good shot."
