Prophecy and Freedom of ChoiceNote: Before reading this section, please read Time Concepts and Psychic Laws. (Granger): Time, thought-structures, and activities all interrelate very closely. The essence of time is found in a combination of thought-structures and activity. In the physical world the arrangement is in series, with only one path out of many choices being followed. In the psychic or spiritual planes of life the activities are arranged in parallel. Remember Psychic Law Number One: any activity once set in motion must continue to its resolution. For that reason we have many activities, created out of freedom-of-choice, going on in parallel. We are constantly adding new activities to the pattern; however, the previous activities are still chugging along to their natural conclusion. Over here, you see, thoughts are very real things; we see or sense them as clearly and as real as you do Mother's home cooking. There is no doubt here about thoughts; we work with them all the time as a normal activity. That is why we needed our third psychic law; we needed it to get our idea of parallel time into focus. We have thoughts, that we can see very clearly, set into a form of activity where they must continue to move through a sequence of events to work out a conclusion. We create the present, if you like, by adding new thoughts and grafting them into the existing pattern of activity to achieve the desired results that, to all intents and purposes, we could consider our projected future. By watching this projected future, we see the projected results of our past and present activities working through to a conclusion. And we are able to change that future, which we can see as we go along, to get more desirable results. The concept of time needs to be well understood for several reasons. First, it is not a thing in itself; it is a way of thinking about movement. The movement may be in series or in parallel ...depends on "your place or mine." Another reason for understanding time is that it is essential in order to understand prophecy, or forecasting. Many people have an oversimplified concept of prophecy, or forecasting. They imagine something happens like this: God gets on His hot-line to some special person and says, "This and so will be coming down to you soon ...you had better get people ready." That, I am sure you understand, is not the way prophecy comes about. Prophecy is a fallout from time, which is a fallout from thought-forms that have started out on a course of action. The prophecy is an awareness ahead of time, of how the thought-patterns-in-action will eventually work out provided, of course, that freedom of choice does not enter the picture to change it. Just because a prophecy does not come true does not mean that the one making the prophecy is a false-prophet, not by any means. It simply means that, assuming the prophecy were true in the first place, the will has entered. Choices have been exercised and events have been changed. We should explain why some people can prophesy while most people cannot, not even to the extent of guessing tomorrow's weather correctly. There is a basic type of mind or sensitivity, developed in some people, that allows them to sense the process of thought-forms in action. They are able to tune-in to the energy being generated by the thought-form movement and sense or visualize the activity. Many people have this capability to one degree or another, but usually it is not well developed. The term "gift of prophecy" is not a misleading expression. It was a good way of recognizing this ability in certain people. I, Granger, think now the human race is at a point in mental and psychic development where this ability could be studied objectively with some considerable benefits. We, on this side, could assist any well organized and disciplined group of a scientific bent of mind who wished to work with us. It is not easy to assist a group of people doing research, who keep insisting that you don't exist. It is not so much that our feelings are hurt by attitudes about 'dead people.' but it would be more productive to work with people who agree that you do exist. Did you ever think of having a telephone conversation with someone who insists you are not real? When thought-forms become activated with dynamic energy they no longer just continue to exist; they take on a process of change. The old form remains and can still be referenced; however, new forms begin to emerge out of the old, and a process of movement starts up. The pattern of movement or action begins to become apparent, and certain results are the fallout from the activity. The results may be the ones desired, or they may not be desired. in either case they are real and exist. This type of activity goes on through the entire universe and in all planes of consciousness. Prophecy is a projecting of the mind into future events, which are there to be observed. Remember, however, these future events are not, as we say, cast in concrete. They are subject to change through the principle or law of freedom of thought. This is our Psychic Law Number Four: Anyone of an open mind has the right and capability to change the pattern of his or her thought activity. Yes, we see that you (the writer) are checking back against Psychic Law Number Three, which says that any thought-form once established and set in motion will continue to exist. It seems as though the two laws are almost in conflict; in fact they are not in conflict at all. The old pattern of thought continues to its conclusion...but it continues. The new thought-pattern continues also, in the same time frame as the old thought-pattern. And both thought- patterns are real and observable to us here. They are real to you on your side as well, only not so observable to you. For example, should you go to a good psychic reader for a life-reading, she or he might say, "As I enter your vibration, I observe a pattern of thought and activity that shows a great interest in music ...or in raising chickens, which may have nothing to do with your present interests or life pattern. Now the psychic reader is not just being a kook nor a crook. He is observing an actual thought-process set in motion at some time in your life. If thought-patterns are the very essence of living, we should understand better how to control and use them successfully. It would be nice to select the successful thoughts and avoid all the undesirable ones. Well, in theory at least, we may be able to come closer to that objective than if we just continue to ramble on through this "briar patch" of life on earth, wi th all i ts thorns and sticks, it dead stumps and its hanging vines. Maybe we could clean up the old briar patch if we did a bit of picking and choosing of the better paths to travel. At least, we should avoid some unnecessary problems. We think it worth some effort to control our thought-patterns, but the control must come from inside the personality, not from some external sage or leader. There are a number of ways of going about controlling the thought- patterns of one's life. Some of these are very difficult and, in our opinion, not worth the effort they require. We do not recommend sitting in concentrated thought for long periods of the day. There are other easier and, we think, healthier ways to go. Why carry a great array of equipment if you can make the same journey with more success and with only an easy back-pack? One of the best ways to control and learn to use good thought-patterns is to practice in your spare time, when the need is not desperate. Do not wait to see the whites of the enemy's eyes to get your equipment set up. Take some time each day to practice thought-patterns in some area of interest. The interest area you choose may be very simple, such as the desire to achieve a certain goal or objective. You (the writer), for instance, would like to reconstruct your ability to type. That is a good objective, but not a life and death struggle. Go about it this way: think of yourself as being able to type at a rate of your choice without making mistakes; concentrate on seeing yourself doing this; see yourself doing it very well; see yourself enjoying the experience. Say to yourself, "I can type at this rate and enjoy doing it." Think of the results coming from this ability; let it sink down into your mind that you have accomplished this ability. You will be surprised at the results of this exercise, carried out on a daily basis. Soon you will find that you can type better than you ever thought to be possible. There are many ways by which thought processes can be controlled. We have already pointed out that some of these ways in our opinion are not worth the amount of effort required. There are a number of easier and more workable ways to develop good useful thought patterns. In addition to the one given, we could suggest others. A good way is to learn the process of meditation, and while in that state of deep relaxation give yourself good positive suggestions. We see benefits from people learning to meditate, even without the suggestions. |
