I bought this car, brand new, from the car show in April 1985. It currently has 150,000 kms on it - all by me. When I bought the car, I also purchased a Chrysler Gold Plan for 5 years and when that expired, I bought a Chrysler used vehicle service contract for another 2 years. It developed a lot of body rust, which I enjoyed - but Oct 9/98 was D-Day. The rust was at the point of not being able to save the car. Dana (Andana Paint) had to replace all 4 doors, weld new pillars on both sides for front windshield, weld in new inner fenders, replace the outer fenders, weld in a complete new floor, and new metal for the trunk floor, and replace the hatch. He also fabricated the roll cage, which is so subtle it can barely be noticed from outside the car. The central cage is made from straight steel, and is shaped to hold the seat belt mechanisms within, in the same location as stock. It started life with Sante Fe Crystal Coat, but when I realized how much money I was spending, I decided I wanted a change, so I went with '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee gold pearl white and '98 Ram Intense Blue. A bit too flashy, but mine.
The rear doors have been sealed shut and an integrated roll cage installed (a work of art - 30 hours to fabricate).
