The German Longhair is one to the oldest breeds of German Huntingdogs.
On medieval tappestries and hunting paintings we already see huntingdogs that closely resemble todays German Longhairs.
According to word-of-mouth stories these dogs were used to chase fild game into nets. These were definitely the ancestors of todays German Longhairs.
