The GCA Theme Song "Bruises" by Unloco was playing in the Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, NJ as Ryan "Martini" Duncan and Bob Sky welcomed everyone to GCA's first ever Pay Per View event: "GCA: No Love Lost." The fans were in for a treat as there would be 8 huge matches!
A tape played airing the pre-fight comments and fans were excited to see what GCA Fighter's were all about.
First up would be the two semi-final matches for the DvG Tourney. This mini tournament would feature 2 Light-weights against 2 heavyweights. It was time to start the first fight:
"Hip Hop" Dave Franklin v "Big Mac Attack" Travis McClain
"Gettin Jiggy Wit It" by Wil Smith started to play as Hip Hop Dave Franklin made he way down. As he was strutting, a tape showing his win over Barry Connor was playing, and a lot of fans were laughing. He got into The Pentagon and took his place as Brody started talking to him. Ryan Duncan said that Hip Hop Dave was giving up the major weight and power advantage, but Bob Sky said Dave had better conditioning and more speed.
"Kill and Deceive" by Figure Four started to play as the "Big Mac Attack" Travis McClain started his walk. He had a big smile on his face as he got a lot of cheers. Bob Sky said Travis looked like a bear ready to maul. He got into The Pentagon and was checked by Brody. Julia Stevenson then took the mic to the delight of the men.
Julia: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the first match in the David v Goliath Tournament. Standing to my left, he is dressed in the green "Enyce" shorts, he is 5'11", 190 pounds. He is a praticioner of "Hip-Hop-Kido" and has a GCA Record of 1-0 with 1 KO, from "The Ghettos" of Mobile, Alabama, USA he is...Hip Hop...Dave FRANKLIN!"
"And his opponent, standing at 6'4", weighing 270 pounds, dressed in the Silver trunks with White trim, a master of Drunken Boxing, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. he has a GCA Record of 1-0 with 1 KO. He is the "Big Mac Attack" Travis MCCLAIN!"
The fans roared as Julia left and Eric Brody, the Law of The Pentagon, took over:
"Welcome to GCA Pay Per View...Franklin, "YOU READY FOR COMBAT?" McClain..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?" "IT'S GO TIME!"
The fans cheered as they met in the middle and this one got underway.
Round 1: It didn't take long for this to get explosive as Travis McClain quickly cornered Hip Hop Dave and pressed him against the cage. Big Mac then stepped back and threw a hard elbow. Hip Hop Dave was rocked a bit but regained his compsoure. He tried to get away from the Cage but Travis had him pinned up there with one arm. Dave covered up as Travis threw hard elbows with his free arm. Dave got an arm free and threw a quick jab that caught Travis off guard. Dave managed to slip away but when he tried to attack, Travis was able to block. When Travis attacked, Dave was able to bob and weave. The buzzer sounded and both men went back to their corners.
While they were resting, Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky said that it was a great way to start off the round, both men were strikers, but because of his weight and height and power, Travis would be able to take more than Dave. Brody then called the fighter's back
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: Both men came out fighting again and Travis threw a Wa fist but Dave caught it with his arm, he trapped Travis's arm under his arm pit and tried to drag Travis around. Duncan and Sky said that wasn't goo strategy as the crowd laughed. Travis grinned and thre Dave off easily. Travis came charging but Dave caught him with a quick 1-2 punch combo and Travis was stung by it. He shrugged it off and kept pursuing Hip Hop. He threw wild punches and then a left thrust caught Dave on the shoulder. Dave responded with a kick to Travis's leg. Dave then spent the rest of the round eluding Travis's attacks and it looked like the big guy was getting winded. The round ended and both Duncan and Sky agreed McClain was looking good early but he appeared to start gassing.
The Third Round was ready to begin as Brody called them back to the fray:
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: Travis came out looknig tired, he threw a couple of sluggish hands but Hip Hop Dave easily ducked them. dave then took a three step trot, jumped and caught Travis on the chin with a Bicycle Kick! McClain went down, Dave pounced, threw two punches and was pulled off by Eric Brody! Thefans were shocked to see Dave standing!
Winner by KO at 0:17 of Round 3: Hip Hop Dave Franklin!
Highlights of the kick were shown as the fans were still in shock. Travis was helped to the back and Dave had a big grin on his face. Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky said that Dave would face the winner of the next fight later on in the evening. It was time for the second semi final in the DvG Tourney:
Nick "The Nightmare" Johnson v Andrew Woods
Bob Sky said both men were very impressive in their GCA debut, with Nick Johnson defeating Mike Burnett by Ref Stoppage and Andrew Woods making Lucien Belanger Submit. the interesting thing was that Andrew Woods isn't a submission fighter, he's a striker. This would prove to be an interesting contest indeed.
"Sleeping Awake" by P.O.D started to play as Nick came out to a good response. Footage of his fight was being shown as he got into The Pentagon and awaited Woods.
"Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen started to play as Andrew Woods came out. He looked focused and mean as he got into the ring and stared down Johnson. Julia Stevenson, "The Siren" took the mic:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the second semi final match of the DvG tournament! Standing to my left, wearing the green wrestling singlet. He is a Freestyle Wrestler from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He stands at 6'1" and weighs 157 pounds. He has a GCA Record of 1-0 with 1 win by Ref Stoppage. He is Nick "The Nightmare" JOHNSON!"
And his opponent. He is a Pit Fighter dressed in Khaki trunks. He stands at 5'11" and weighs 210 pounds. He is from Liverpool, England...he is "The One Man Army" Andrew WOODS!"
the fans cheered as Julia left. Martini commented on the new nickname and said it was interesting. Eric Brody then took center stage:
"Second Semi Finals...Johnson..'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' Woods...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
They met in the middle and the fight had begun!
Round 1: Intensity was the theme of this bout as Woods tried a weak strike, but Johnson for lack of a better word speared Woods hard. Woods hit his head off the canvas but recovered. Johnson tried to push Woods against the fence for ground and pound but Woods muscled out of it. They got to their feet and Johnson tried a single leg shoot, Woods held onto the cage with one hand and then came down with a HUGE hammer punch across Johnson's cheek! Johnson let go and tried to get to his feet, but Woods hit another decent punch to the head, Woods tried to follow up with a flurry but Johnson caught a hold of him and used leverage to take him down where he moved around and got in a couple of nice rib shots but soon the Round was over.
Sky said that both appeared evenly matched early on, but time would tell the victor. Brody then called them back after a rest.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: The Round started off with Woods moving in right away. He threw a couple of quick jabs and Johnson tried going toe to toe. Woods caught him with a nice body shot, but then Johnson got back to his specialty and went on the ground. Woods quickly swept and got on top of Johnson. Johnson set up a half guard and managed to keep Woods at bay. Johnson then got out of it and swept Woods! Woods tried to set a guard but Johnson had side control! That meant that Woods couldn't use his legs to stop Johnson and was in trouble. Johnson took advantage of it by pounding on Woods's face! Woods tried to cover up and he struggled to get back to his feet, however Johnson kept up the pressure and nailed Woods in the forehead as the Round ended.
Ryan Duncan said that this was a terrific fight. Sky said Woods was lucky to get out that situation conscious. Brody then started the fight:
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: Round 3 started off with a nice leg kick by Woods. He then tried a push kick, but Johnson caught the leg and took him back down. Johnson tried to get into a good mount position, but Woods used his strength and weight advantage to stop Johnson from getting in good shots. He back up, but then Johnson lept up and came down with a double axe fist! Woods looked loopy as Johnson pounded more, Woods got his arms up in time to stop Brody from jumping in. Woods tried to cover up but Johnson caught him on the eyebrow with a viscious hammer blow and Woods got cut open! The buzzer sounded to end the round. Woods cut men started working him over as Johnson's corner encouraged him to keep it up.
Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky were flabbergasted at the tenacity of Nick Johnson. They said he was dominating the match and that was a surprise. Perhaps DvG would see two "Davids." Brody then called them back to start the fourth round.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 4: Woods came out looking battered and Johnson was looking confident. He tried another take down but Woods smacked him in the ribs. They broke off and circled each other. Johnson got the takedown this time, but Woods moved quickly and swept it. He then hit Johnson in the ribs some more. He then got back to his feet where he clinched with Johnson and threw a good knee strike into the ribs yet again. Johnson tried repeatedly to take Woods down but couldn't do it. Woods managed somehow to stop it. He got in a quick straight left as the round ended.
Ryan said both looked tired going into the final round. Sky said that Johnson was weary from taking down the heavier weight and Woods was exhausted from the beating Johnson gave him. Brody then called them together for the last round.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 5: Both men came out looknig exhausted. They circled each other, both looking worn down. Johnson ducked and went for a double leg shoot, he got it, but what he didn't count on was Woods hooking the arm around Nick's neck as Nick took him down. Andrew Woods caught Nick Johnson off guard with a Guillotine choke! Woods sqeeuzed with all his might. Johnson tried to fight it but Woods had it clamped and had a guard up...Johnson had no choice but to tap!
Winner at 0:54 of Round 5: "The One Man Army" Andrew Woods!
Ryan Duncan said that was an EXCELLENT bout and Johnson gave a very good showing of himself. Bob Sky then said that Hip Hop Dave Franklin had a big advantage walking into the finals. Now it was time for the next match up:
Tyson McDermott v Russell Black
This match kind of fits in the name of the event. While these two haven't met in The Pentagon, there is some bad blood. Russell Black got a victory over Gary Campbell at Throwdown 2 just four days ago on Feb 8. Gary and Tyson are good friends and Tyson wanted to show Russell that when you mess with one friend, you mess with all of them. Tyson made a quick challenge and Russell made a quick reply.
"Jump" by House of Pain started to play and the fans bopped with the groove as Tyson McDermott came strutting down as footage of him beating Billy Malone played. He looked into the camera and did the #1 gesture with his finger. He then got into The Pentagon.
"Back in Black" by AC/DC started to play as Russell Black came out as his match with Gary Campbell was being shown. He looked cool and calm and ready to fight. he got into the ring ans "The Siren" Julia Stevenson was there to make the introductions.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a Light-Weight match is slated for 5 rounds. Introducing first to my left. He stands at 5'9 1/2", he weighs in at 179 pounds. Dressed in the Irish Flag pattern of Green, White and Orange trunks. An Aikido fighter from Dublin, Ireland with a GCA Record of 1-0 with 1 KO. He is...Tyson MCDERMOTT!"
"And his opponent...standing at 6'3", weighing 181 pounds. Dressed in the black spandex trunks, a Judo master from Auckland, New Zealand with a GCA record of 1-0 with 1 KO...Russell BLACK!"
Eric Brody got this one started off:
"McDermott...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...Black...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 1: Both men came out and tried to chop each other but their chops were evaded. Tyson then grabbed Russell Black's wrist and flipped Black. Black went down and Tyson got on top. They moved all over the Pentagon floor, with Tyson trying to strike and grab limbs for the submission, but Black stayed calm and countered and blocked everything. He then got his legs up high and got a hold of Tyson's arms to prevent Tyson from moving. Tyson managed to wriggle an arm free and chopped at Black's ribs. The slap echoed through the Plaza. Then Black managed to push out of the guard and both men got to their feet. However, Black was behind McDermott! Russell grabbed Tyson from behind with a waistlock, lifted him up and slammed him HARD into the mat. Black then mounted and threw strikes when he saw an opening. The round ended with fans cheering.
Bob Sky said that he couldn't believe how dominant Russell Black is. Brody then started the second round with:
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: They met in the middle and Tyson got a nice takedown. He then followed up with a BOOMING chop than split open Black's mouth! Black then set up a closed full guard and kept McDermott immobile. Brody hauled them both up again and they started on their feet. They got into a clinch and Tyson dropped his head. Black struck with a big knee busting open Tyson's nose. He then slammed Tyson hard into the mat. He mounted and Tyson wasn't able to get a guard. Black threw down massive chops that rocked McDermott and split him wide open.. The ref jumped in and paused the fight. Drs Sheridan and Duncan agreed that Tyson should not continue. Brody then called the fight!
Winner by Ref Stoppage at 3:58 of Round 2: Russell Black!
Both commentators said that Russell Black is indeed a force to be reckoned with here in GCA.
Next up was a fight where both men would making their GCA Debut. It was a battle of two heavyweight as we would next see:
"Pure Gold" Curtis Vector v John Satra
It was time for the Tale of Tape since there was no footage of previous GCA outings. Satra at 6'5" and 264 pounds was the bigger and stronger man. His skill was Indonesian Silat. Curtis Vector was a former Team Canada wrestler who was on a former Commonwealth Games team and even took home a bronze medal. His forte was wrestling with some submission learned in the pro wrestling training center, the Hart Dungeon. This promised to be an exciting fight.
"O Canada" as performed by the RCMP Brass band started to play as Curtis Vector came out carrying a large Canadian Flag. he made his way to the pentagon and gave the Flag to his team.
"State of Mind" by Figure Four started to play as the 30 year old John Satra came out. The females in the crowd went nuts over him as did the drag queens. He walked down and got into The Pentagon where "The Siren" Julia Stevenson was waiting.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this Heavyweight bout is slated for 5 rounds. Introducing first to my left. He is wearing the White Wrestling Singlet with Red Trim and the Canadian Maple Leaf on the front. He stands at 6'1" and weighs 227 pounds. He is a Freestyle Wrestler from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He is "Pure Gold" Curtis VECTOR!"
"And his opponent. he stands at 6'5", weighs in at 264 pounds. Wearing the white trunks and representing the style of Silat. Originally from the Fiji Islands...he is John SATRA!"
Eric Brody then took charge:
"Let's have a good fight...Vector...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...Satra...'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
Round 1: Both men came out and tapped gloves. Vector tried a take down but Satra blocked it. Satra tried a strike but Vector slipped back. Satra stepped in though and got a kick on Vector's quad. Vector then clinched and pushed Satra up against the cage. They jockeyed for positioin and Satra pushed Vector off of him. Vector stepped in and then out of nowhere Satra hit a jumping spin kick that knocked Vector clean out!
Duncan and Sky were amazed at the first round knockout and said if Satra keeps this up, he could be a top name in GCA.
Winner by KO at 3:47 of Round 1: John Satra
It was time for another Heavyweight match up with another newcomer.
Pablo Jimenez v "Simply Fantastic" Tyrique Jones
Both of these fighters were very young, 20 years old, they had the same height but Pablo was heavier. However, Tyrique Jones showed in his first match that weight advantage doesn't mean anything as he defeated Vladimir "Kindred" Davovitch on Throwdown 1.
"O Fortuna" started to play as Pablo Jimenez came out. He threw some punches at the camera and then walked to the The Pentagon.
"Yes yes Y'All" by Wil Smith started to play and the fans cheered as Tyrique Jones came out wearing a robe that said "Simply Fantasic" on the back. He did the whole Ali rap as he made his way to The Pentagon. Eric Brody talked to both men and then Julia Stevenson made the announcements.
Julia: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is a Heavyweight contest scheduled for 5 Rounds. Standing to my left is a specialist in the Brazilian art of Capoeira. He is 6'2" and weighs in at 237 pounds. Fighting out of Rio De Jinero, Brasil and dressed in the black spandex trunks with white trim. He is, Pablo JIMENEZ!"
"And his opponent, standing at 6'2", weighing in at 225 pounds, a black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do. He is dressed in gold spndex trunks with black trim. He has a GCA Record of 1-0 with 1 KO. He comes from the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA..."Simply Fantastic" Tyrique JONES!"
The fans cheered, Bob Sky this should be good as both men are strikers, so don't expect a lot of takedowns. Eric Brody then took center stage.
"All right gents, welcome to PPV. Jimenez, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' Jones, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
Round 1: Both men came out to the middle and they circled each other, Pablo threw a couple of quick lefts, but they didn't connect. Both men were feeling each other out when Pablo faked overead shots with his hands, bent over and tried some kind of spin kick. Tyrique saw through it and dodged and then smacked Pablo hard with the leg with a nice kick. Pablo recovered and got back in his stance. He then ran and tried a fancy jump kick, but Tyrique stpped into it and hit Pablo hard in the stomach. As Pablo struggled for footing, Tyrique tried a right handed strike but Pablo slipped and fell on his back. Tyrique got on top and threw a couple of weak shots to the ribs. He quickly got back to his feet and motioned for Pablo to get up. Tyrique threw another nice kick to the leg but Pablo shrugged it off and walked in with a nice backhand to Tyrique's cheek. They then threw more kicks until the round ended, with neither man connecting with anything.
Ryan said that this was going to be an interesting fight. Bob Sky said that Tyrique was able to get in a few more shots for that round. Brody then took center again.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: Both men stepped out to meet each other and they clinched. Pablo got a weak punch to the ribs, Tyrique got a weak knee shot on Pablo's thigh. Pablo then pushed Tyrique against the Cage and hit Tyrique with a series of weak forearms to the chest. Tyrique tried wrapping his leg around Pablo's and tried striking at the calf with his heel. Pablo then broke the clinch and stepped back. He then lept forward with a bicycle kick but Tyrique stepped to the side then turned his hips and launched out with a punch that hit Pablo in the cheek! Pablo was dazed and staggered back a few steps. Tyrique rushed in and kicked Pablo in the ribs. Pablo went down and Tyrique followed. Pablo was able to tie Tyrique up though and held him there for the rest of the round, moving just enough so Brody wouldn't break it up.
Ryan Duncan said that punch and kick by Tyrique was devestating to Pblo. Bob Sky said that easily could have been a knockout and then the tie up in the guard was a desperation move. Pablo appeared to be in trouble. It was now time to start the third round.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: The round started off with Tyrique hitting two jab kicks onto Pablo's leg. The leg was starting to turn red and Sky commented that Pblo would have a hard time walking around the ring before the fight was over. Tyrique fired another kick but Pablo blocked it and threw a quick right. Tyrique then rushed in and kneed Pablo weakly in the ribs and gave him a body punch. The round ended with both trying to strike but neither succeeding. Both men were starting to look a little winded.
Bob Sky said that at this poiint, conditioning would be the factor. Pablo needed to have better conditoning in order to suirvive the next round. After the rest, Body came out.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 4: Both men came out looking weary, Tyrique tried a haymaker and had his head down. Pablo came down with a big overhead chop on the back of Tyrique's head. Tyrique went down on all fours and Pablo mounted his back. Tyrique covered his head so Pablo took shots at the ribs. Pablo tried a punch to Tyrique's face, but Tyrique caught the arm and held on to it as he stood back up. He then let go, covered up and threw a back to keep Pablo at bay. Tyrique spun around and Bob Sky said that Tyrique was fortunate there. They squared off again, and Pablo pushed Tyrique up against the cage, but Tyrique was able to land some soft punches to the ribs and one to the temple of Pablo Jimenez. Tyrique pushed off Pablo and caught him with a thrust kick to the abdomen. Jimenez looked hurt but before Tyrique could capitalize the round ended.
Ryan Duncan said that both men were looking pained but it seemed Pablo's momentmum picked up a bit in that last round. Bob Sky agreed and said that Pablo may have better conditioning. However, if Pablo was going to have a chance at winning, he'd have to come out big. Eric Brody then signalled it was time to start the final round.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT? YOU READY FOR COMBAT? IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 5: It was almost as if Pablo overheard Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky. Tyrique came out with a punch and lowered his head. Pablo dodged then in an amazing move he bent over, bent his leg and brought the foot over his back, striking Tyrique in the forehead! Tyrique looked dazed as Pablo got his footing secure and then threw a crescent kick at Tyrique! Tyrique was able to get his hands up but the force of the kick still spun Tyrique around! Pablo then went on the attack throwing hard rights and left. Tyrique was able to recover and dodged them. In the final minute, Pablo did a turning jump kick that hit Tyrique in the chest! Tyrique went down hard but he was still conscious! Pablo mounted and threw some wicked punches at Tyrique who did he best to cover up as the fight ended!
Ryan Duncan and Bob Sky said that it was a great fight and that it would be tough for the judges to call. After a couple of minutes, Julia Stevenson got into The Pentagon and both fighters were standing on either side of Brody.
Julia: "Let's give a great hand to these two spectacular fighters!"
The crowd cheered in appreciation.
Julia: "The Judges have made their decision. Judge Hulk Hogan has scored this fight 50-49. Judge Stefano has scored this bout 49-50...and Judge Billy Blanks has scored this bout 50-49 for:"
Winner by Split Decision: Pablo Jimenez!
Pablo looked excited and Tyrique looked upset. He cursed and shook his head. Bob Sky said that Tyrique was dominant early on but Pablo was strong in the later rounds. It could have gone either way but today it went Pablo's way.
That was an interesting finish Ryan "Martini" Duncan said and a similar finish is the reason why we have one of the two Main Events for "No Love Lost." It was time for the First main Event, the highly anticipated re-match between
Rudy "Dolemite" Jackson v "Big Train" Bruce Roberts!
These two met in the Main Event of Tuesday Throwdown 1 back on Feb 1. It was a good bout but it ended in a victory by decision for the Dolemite. Bruce Roberts wasn't impressed and so he wanted a rematch. Rudy Jackson complied and so it is set. These two do not like each other and both have promised that even though the fight is scheduled for 5 Rounds, it won't go that long.
"Fist Full" by Cypress Hill started to play as Rudy Jackson to a mixed response. Those that loved him, loved him. Those that hated him, they really hated him. He was smiling and he shouted at the camera that "WONDERBREAD IS DEAD!" He then got into The Pentagon.
"Crush'em" by Megadeth started to play as Bruce Roberts came out to a mixed reaction as well. The crowd seemed split down the middle. He threw some big uppercuts and then marched down to The Pentagon where Eric Brody and Julia Stevenson were waiting.
"Ladies and gentlemen. This is the first of our double Main Event for GCA: No Love Lost! It is a heavyweight fight slated for 5 rounds. The refreee is of course Eric Brody and the judges are GCA Commissioner Stefano, Hulk Hogan and Billy Blanks. These two men are the reason why this event is named "No Love Lost" They fought before with a result that both were unhappy with, and now both seek to fight and win in a manner of their preference"
"Introducing first to my left. He stands at 5'10" and weighs 225 pounds. A black belt in Karate and fighting out of Chicago, Illinois, USA. he is dressed in the black trunks with the large white 'D' on the butt. He has a GCA Record of 1-0 with 1 decision...he is Rudy "Dolemite" JACKSON!"
Mixed response from the fans.
"And his opponent...Standing at 6'6", weighing in at 280 pounds. He is dressed in the black tights and is a Shoot Fighter from Boston, Massacheustus, USA. He has a GCA record of 0-1. He is the "Big Train" Bruce Roberts!"
Another mixed reaction from the crowd as Julia left and Brody took over.
"I gave you instructions before the event started. I expect you to obey my commands at all times. Jackson, any questions? Roberts, any questions? Good, go to your spots and wait for my order."
As they took their places, the crowd started buzzing and both commentators said this is what they were waiting for. Brody took center stage
"All right, this is the first Main Event...Jackson, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' Roberts, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' 'IT'S GO TIME!!'"
They met in the middle as the fans got louder and louder and this war was underway!
Round 1: Both fighters met in the middle and Roberts tried a shoot attempt but Dolemite sidestepped it. Roberts then pushed Dolemite to the fence and he threw a couple of knees and a couple of forearms into Dolemite. Roberts then picked Dolemite up and slammed him hard on the mat with the back of Dolemite's head hitting the Cage! For the rest of the round, Roberts was on top in a mount position just wailing away and launching big fists at Dolemite. When the round was over, Brody broke them up and Dolemite had bruises forming on his face.
Bob Sky said that Dolemite was in trouble early on and Bruce Roberts looked to run over him. Brody then started round 2.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?..."YOU READY FOR COMBAT?"...IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 2: they came out for Round 2 where Roberts tried anohtre takedown, but Dolemite connected with two solid shots. He nailed Roberts with a wicked 1-2-3-4 combination that saw Roberts get hit on both temples! Roberts looked to be in a daze from the headshots and started to cover up. Dolemite back up and tried a sidekick that didn't do much damage. Dolemite then tired a jump kick but missed, he was really vulnerable but Roberts only scored with a weak jab. Sky said that was bad news for Roberts, that Big Combo to his head still had him loopy. Sky said that Roberts better be careful or Brody will stop this fight. Dolemite went back to a conservative striking game, landing solid kicks to Roberts's legs and punches to his ribs. The round then ended.
Ryan Duncan said he was amazed at the drastic turnaround. Sky said that Roberts dominated Round 1 with viscious takedowns and ground and pound, but those Round 2 blows to both sides of his head left Roberts looking woozy. Round 3 should be interesting. Brody then came out to start it off.
"YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...YOU READY FOR COMBAT?...IT'S GO TIME!"
Round 3: They met in the middle again where Dolemite struck first with a good left roundhouse kick that hit Roberts in the biscep. Roberts tried striking, but Dolemite ducked and weaved, he got in close and hit some punches. Dolemite did the hit and run strategy, making Roberts chase him around The Pentagon. Roberts then tried a single leg shoot and grabbed Dolemite's leg. Dolemite hit an 8 punch combination to the head! Roberts let go and was barely standing, Dolemite then did a jumping sidekick that hit Roberts in the face! Roberts dropped down and Dolemite mounted punching him mercilessly! Brody ran in and tackled Dolemite and hauled him off! Dolemite got to his feet and had a big smile on his face as he saw Roberts laid out.
Winner by Knock Out at 2:14 of Round 3: Rudy "Dolemite" Jackson!
Duncan and Sky said that it was an explosive match and certainly worthy of a Main Event. Now it was time for the DvG Finals. The interesting thing about this trophy is that the Winner has a choice, they can hang on to the trophy and defend it next month, or they can relenquish it and go after a title. The Finalists for DvG Trophy are:
"HipHop" Dave Franklin v "The One Man Army" Andrew Woods
Bob Sky said that even though Hip Hop Dave Franklin was lighter, Bob Sky believed that Dave Franklin had the advantage. He managed to KO Travis McClain early in their fight and avoided taking damage. Andrew Woods not only fought into Round 5 but he took significant damage. Dave also had a longer rest period than Andrew, so it looked like Andrew Woods would be the underdog going into this.
"Gettin Jiggy Wit It" by Wil Smith played for the second time as Hip Hop Dave Franklin came out. He was smiling big but he wasn't jumping around. Sky observed that Dave was being smart and conserving energy. He got into The Pentagon and waited.
"Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen started to play and the fans cheered as Andrew Woods came out. His face was cleaned up and his cut patched. His eyes looked tired though. He walked to The Pentagon where "The Siren" Julia Stevenson made the intros.
Julia: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Finals of Feburary's David v Goliath Tournament! We have one david and one Goliath ready to do battle for the trophy and a possible title shot for their division. These two have fought earlier and downed their foes, now which one of them will take it all?"
"Introducing first to my left. he stands at 5'11" and weighs 190 pounds. He hails from "The Ghettos" of Mobile, Alabama, USA! He is a master of "Hip Hop Kido" and is dressed in the green "Enyce" shorts. He has a GCA record of 2-0 with 2 KO's. He is "Hip Hop" Dave FRANKLIN!"
"And his opponent, he is the 'Goliath' in this contest. He stands at 5'11", weighs 220 pounds. He is dressed in the khaki trunks and is a Pit Fighter from Liverpool, England. He has a GCA record of 2-0 with 2 Submissions. He is "The One Man Army" Andrew WOODS!"
The fans started chanting "Woods! Woods! Woods! Woods!" as Julia left and Eric Brody took charge
"I want you guys to follow my commands at all times. Congrats on making it to the DvG Finals. Good luck and have a good fight...Franklin, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?' Woods, 'YOU READY FOR COMBAT?'...'IT'S GO TIME!'"
They came out as the fans roared and kept chanting "Woods." Surprisingly enough, they tapped gloves before the fight. Sky said this was going to be a great match.
Round 1: They circled each other, with Hip Hop Dave looking more lively than Andrew Woods. Dave threw a couple of quick jabs and a jab kick. Andrew tried to throw a haymaker but Dave slipped it and hit Woods in the eye with an uppercut. Dave then threw a quick three kick combo that sent Woods to the canvas! Woods immediately got into a defensive pose on the ground but he looked at Dave and Hip Hop Dave Franklin motioned for Woods to stand up. Woods got back to his feet and looked tired as he was barely able to keep his ahnds up. His cut was reopened thanks to Dave's uppercut.
