Young Rocket Scientist
Students in rooms 201, 202 and 209 have been building cardboard-balsa wood model rockets. Most
of them are painted and decorated with decals and are ready to launch.
Students will be launching rockets until school lets out for the summer.(Weather permitting)
The Rockets use an electrical launch system with a parachute recovery device.
Students will learn about Newton’s laws of motion. They will study the effects of drag on the rocket design and recovery system. Measurements of the rocket’s flight will be taken by all students with student made clinometers. Funding for the rockets is provided by grant money from the Department of the Gifted and Talented for Mr. Lopatka's Aerospace program.
Keep looking up!
