- Summer Issue
Hi Roy,
Thanks for keeping in touch,
and keeping the fires burning. Ann Lafferty Neal, Jean Meeker Loya
Kathy Fertig and I will meet in Flagstaff, Arizona for our third annual
“Goddesses of Brent” (as Chester Judah calls us) reunion in early June. When
Kathy moved to Santa Fe she got in
touch with me (only 3 hours
drive away) and the rest is history. We always have a blast from the past,
hike alot, laugh alot and talk about men (of course). Jean and I may both
retire at the end of next year from our school jobs. My mom
may move up here to live in
assisted care facility in
Durango, so I want to free myself up to be with her more.
Wishing you a fine time
compiling “stats of the brats”—I include myself in that group, somewhat
proudly. I relished breaking Brent rules and still stray sometimes.
Goddess of the Dipsea, (a race I won in California that Chester respects)

Subject: ’50s Reunion
Hi, Sue (and Roy and Marcia).
I’m not sure who I need to
contact about this. I’m going to try to get the ’50ers together again, and I
seem to remember that the 60ers are planning something on the west coast for
next year. Is that correct? If so, can you give me details. I’m going to
send an email to them and see if they want to do something this year or wait
and join up with y’all next year. You are all so good about keeping in touch
but I’m afraid the ’50s people are not nearly as good. So let me know
please, what you’re all up to.
Also, if any of you have, in
the last year, gotten any news or emails of anyone from our group, please
pass the info along. I think there was also some talk of my doing a
newsletter, combining some of your stuff with anything I had, and maybe
adding some of the school news from the newsletter I get from them.
Thoughts?
We’re having abnormal weather
here in Atlanta - high about 25 today and going down to about 7 tonight. May
as well have stayed up north! Since I last had contact with any of you, my
head finally healed, and I got back to work in about 4 weeks. In my usual
manner, I took it pretty lightly when it happened, but the delayed reaction
finally hit and I realize how VERY lucky I am that the worst effect so far
has been my loss of smell. Healed enough to go on a cruise at the end of the
summer with two other ladies to Cozumel and Grand Cayman. We had a good
time. This year a friend and I are going on a river cruise up the
Rhine River,
winding up in Amsterdam, and will spend a few days in Paris on the way back.
My goal is to do one big trip a year. Still need to see England, Ireland,
Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc., etc.
I hope all of you are doing
well. I’m so sorry I missed last April’s reunion - there were a few people
there I knew
and would have enjoyed seeing.

Yes, I tried to find Mike
Parker...just too many of them! He was from the south, red hair, shorter
then me...and when I hear Eddie Cochran’s song “Sittin’ In The Balcony, I
think of Sondra and Mike and Vicki and I at the Alhambra Theater. Of cource
when I hear the song “Red Red Wine” I think of Chrisie. Did you drink a lot?
HA!
Let’s see...the summer of ’62.
I was planning on going out with Vicki when she got back in town, but I got
“acedout” by a guy named Benjie. What kind of a name is Benjie? Belongs to a
dog or something...but anyway, I got over that years ago! HA! Blond?
Actually I do remember seeing a blond in Saigon that summer. I’d always see
her in church. In fact “well
