At the Fort Loudoun of Pennsylvania

Sponsored by the Great North America Rendezvous(G.N.A.R.), Inc., a not for profit organization since 1995.

The 1756 British Fort Loudoun is located one (1) mile east of the village of Fort Loudon, in South Central Pennsylvania.  This Fort was constructed on Forbes Road and served as a supply depot for the British forces.  It is our fond wish that you will honor us with your presence.  Please see map below.

The Board of Directors of the G.N.A.R. is very grateful to the Patuxents who for the last nine years provided their Market Fair & Rifle Frolic at Ft. Frederick.  This event will be the same quality 18th century Market Fair & Rifle Frolic with the same rules for a period correct event.

This event will be advertised in Muzzle Loader, Smoke & Fire, all major newspapers, tour books, radio and T.V. as well as flyers in businesses within a 100 miles radius. Handicapped Accessible.  Period clothing, lodging and accoutrements for sutlers & campers required at all times(Pre-1840).  Ice and all non-period items are to be covered at ALL times.

TRADE POLICIES_____________________________

·         A Sutler is defined as one offering a total of $500.00 or more in non- Personal items for sale or trade. 

·         The only items to be displayed, sold or traded are the original or reproductions of articles used in North America between 1640 -1840

·         No merchandise will be displayed in plastic wrappers or containers.

·         No modern labels or price tags may be displayed.

·         All sutlers must be in period attire & use Period shelters & equipment.

·         Sutlers arriving after Wednesday must comply w/1 hour restriction of vehicles in camp.

·         Books, paintings, catalogues must depict the Period of 1640-1840 and be displayed INSIDE a Trade shelter.

·         Audio & video cassettes & patterns in plastic MUST BE OUT OF SIGHT.

·         Traders are responsible"> for ensuring that all trade items comply with Federal state, county, and township laws and regulations.

·         The sale or trade in any form of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.

·         Blanket Traders are limited to one 4 point (72 “ X 90”) blanket.

Blanket Traders are required to abide by all trade rules.

CAMP RULES                                 

·         Campers MUST dress in 1640 –1840 attire & camp in period shelters.

·         No animals: horses, mules, dogs, cats or other pets.

·         NO flammable liquids, propane, kerosene or Coleman lanterns/stoves.

·         Camera & Video equipment are allowed but must be kept covered. No flash or lighting equipment.

·         No rubber soled shoes or moccasins.  No cowboy boots.

·         No shorts, halter tops; cloth or leather.

·         No wristwatches, modern sunglasses or modern earrings. Photogrey or sunglasses must be prescription.

·         No loaded firearms in camp.

·         No modern firearms allowed.

·         Hawk & knife throwing; bow & arrow use in designated areas only.

·         No bull whips of any kind.

·         Children under age 15 must be under adult supervision when handling firearms or edged weapons.

·         Cannons for display only.

·         Campers are restricted to 45-minute time limit for vehicles in camp, load & unload only.

·         Burlap bags or period containers MUST be used for transporting ice or any modern item through camp.

·         Thievery, Poaching, or fighting will not be tolerated. Violators will be escorted from camp & turned over to proper authorities.

·         Excessive noise will not be tolerated.

·         No hoarding of wood. Hauling wood from camp pile permitted by hand only.

·         Trash disposal will be designated. ALL individuals required to bring plastic trash bags to be deposited in designated trash site.

·         The sale or trading of BLACK POWDER is strictly prohibited in Pennsylvania.

·         Medallions must be visible on your person at all times.

 

FIRES_________________________________

·         All fires must be contained in a pit & attended at all times. A minimum of two gallons of water in a period container is to be placed within 5 feet of fire pit.

·         Fire pits no deeper than 6 inches.

·         Dry seasoned firewood provided; no cutting of green brush or wood.

·         Watch Staff will put out unattended fires.

·         Please maintain a dirt rim around the fire pit. Sod should be replaced & leveled before leaving. Do not place sod in a hot fire pit to avoid burning grass roots.

 

RIFLE RANGE RULES_______________

·         Hours 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon, Friday & Saturday; range officers will be on duty.

·         Targets will be sold at Range for $1.00 each.

·         All shooters must be in period clothes.

·         All Range rules & regulations will posted at the range.

·         All matches will be shot with Flint or Percussion rifles; or smooth bore muskets. No priming from cartridge.

SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S PRIORITY. 

ALL DECISIONS OF RANGE OFFICERS ARE FINAL.
