[Scene 3: Ext.-park-noon]
Jay takes a walk at the park, and is in deep thought.
Without his knowledge, Kim walks up to him from behind.
Kim:
Jay…
Jay turns around, his expression reflects the mix of sorrow and
gladness that he feels.
Kim:
I'd like to stay behind but--
Thinking that he'd rather not hear her words, he thinks he knows what
they'll be (I'd like to stay but I'd rather be with…), Jay does not let
Kim finish her sentence.
Jay:
It's best that you'd be on your way to the airport. Vic shall be waiting
for you. It is what you've been waiting around for.
Frustrated, Kim wants to let him hear her, wants him to listen, she'll say
I'd like to stay but I want to know if you want me to. All she needs is
for him to let her know. He just has to say so.
Kim:
Jay just let me-
Jay:
You'd still make it if you go now. Go! Or he might leave without you.
Jay tries to camouflage his heartache with a smile.
Frustration conquers her.
Kim:
Could you stop that?!
Jay:
What??
Kim:
For once, listen to me??!!
Jay:
I did. I did listen to you, I had been. And I know that it'll always be
Victor--I'd carry on with my flight next Friday.
Kim:
Won't you give that up?
Jay:
I've already given up! He's waiting for you.
Kim: (defeated)
And so I should go now???
She means it as and inquiry, but he chooses to take it as a decision.
Jay:
Just leave.
The words lances through both of them, but neither have the courage to cure
the wound right there and then. They could if only they would…
Kim: (faintly)
Bye!
Kim turns away. Jay takes a step attempting to stop her and tell her what
he really wants to say. But anxiety defeats him and so he turns to the
opposite direction and pulls out a cigarette.
At this moment, Kim intends to give a last try; however, seeing that Jay has
already turned away from her leaves her with the impression that he clearly
doesn't want her.
On the other hand, Jay realizes that he shouldn't be smoking at this time,
1) because Kim doesn't like it, and 2) because there's something far better
for him to do-- to tell her… to reveal to her how much she means to him.
Finally, he will. He would.
However, when Jay turns around, Kim has gone.
It's too late. He's left alone.
And so it goes…
Jay: (V.O.)
…and I met her…
we were happy… full of wonderful memories… full of dreams…
but suddenly-
Kim: (v.o.)
But suddenly our dreams…
My dreams… were shattered!
