Barry Bonds slammed 2 homeruns and Randy Wolf mowed down 12 Evenson Odd Dau
batters at Busch Stadium where the Avery Tards (AVC) beat the Evenson Odd Dau
(EVE) by the score of 4 to 2.
Bonds enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled in the 4th inning, hit a
bases-empty home run in the 6th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'
(his 2nd of the season) in the 8th inning. Avery Tards had only 6 hits for
the night.
Wolf(1-0) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Steve Kline recorded his
1st save. Justin Speier(1-2) ended up with the loss in relief.
Wolf was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my
pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got
into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again
in my next outing.'

Troy Glaus blasted a homerun and had 5 RBI at Busch Stadium as the Avery Tards
(AVC) beat the Evenson Odd Dau (EVE) by the count of 11 to 4.
Glaus enjoyed a big day at the plate. He lost the ball over the fence for
three runs (his 1st of the season) in the 1st inning, doubled plating a run
in the 3rd inning and doubled bringing in a run in the 5th inning. Overall
Avery Tards out-hit Evenson Odd Dau 15 to 9.
Jarrod Washburn(1-0) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Albie
Lopez(0-1) took the loss. He served up 4 homeruns in his 7 and 1/3 innings.
'I was really seeing the ball today,' Glaus said 'I wish it was always this
easy.'

Evenson Odd Dau (EVE) 3 to 2.
Evenson Odd Dau was unable to recover after Avery Tards went ahead in the 3rd
inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Helton
doubled. Jimmy Rollins came to the plate and delivered a one-base hit
scoring the run. Tom Gordon was perfect in relief and got the save, his 1st.
Javier Vazquez(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 5 innings. The
losing pitcher was Al Leiter(0-2). 'He gutted it out' Cris Avery said of
Vazquez. 'I was very impressed by his tenacity.'
