North pitching silences South sluggers 5-1 win gives Northern Division edge in 7 year rivalry
SAN FRANCISCO -- In front of 45,872 fans at Pacific Bell Park, Mike Bordick had 2 base hits to lead the Northern Division to a 5 to 1 in the 7th annual Classic 12 All Star Game. Greg Maddux got the win with a nice relief outing. He didn't allow much, just 1 hit and no walks in 1 inning. In this low scoring affair, the All Star Game MVP went to reliever Mike James. James, who entered the game with 2 outs in the 5th inning and the bases loaded, retired Jeff Bagwell on a popout to put down the only threat mustered by the South. The North had 11 hits overall, while the South had 6. Scott Strickland took the loss in relief. He surrendered 3 runs and 2 hits without retiring a batter. |
