The Classic 12 Story
In its primordial stages, the precursor of our current league was
founded in late fall of 1986 as lifelong California Angels devotee Mike Morgensen
sought psychological relief in the aftermath of his team's historic collapse
in the American League Championship Series. If only Donnie Moore had
found a similar diversion. In any case, the discovery of Rotisserie
Baseball led to the formation of a league that has expanded and contracted,
but nevertheless survived to the present day as The Classic 12.
Refusing to allow a player's strike to disrupt our yearly tradition, in
1995 the league dropped the flawed Rotisserie format to play "real" baseball
using Strat-O-Matic Computer Baseball.
