HOPE
The verb hope involves the idea of an action taking place in the future. When hope is used, it may be followed by the subordinate clause or by the result of a predictive conditional. For example:

The two sentences can be rephrased as:
The two examples above imply a possibility, there is no certainty, but it could happen.

WISH
We already saw that the verb hope refer to possible actions. The verb wish is different. Here we are talking about events that cannot be changed in the present. The form of the sentences is similar to that in counterfactual conditionals.When wishis used, it may precede the subordinate clause or the result clause of an imaginative conditional. For example:
