The mother is the source of all creation. She is represented by the full moon, she is giver of life. The mother goddess takes on a lover and swells with life, with babies, with green and abundant life. Her passions brings all forms into being and her love sustains them. She is Demeter, Gaia, Kuan, Mother Nature, the Virgin Mary.
Mother goddess gives birth to life, sustain her child in her womb and her milk. She is the mother lion who gently lick her cubs and guards them with fierce ferocity. As in patriarchal society, men expect the women to be the one tending to the kids, seeing them as a "women's" job. Mothers are natural teachers, having much wisdom to share with their kids, yet today, we see kids being taught under the patriarchy system. We are seeing society moving out of the trend slowly, have both parents influencing the development of the child.
In today's society, women are still being oppressed into submissive, "keep to the kitchen" home-maker, denied of equal opportunities and participation in the community. They are not expected to raise opinions and to stay in the background carrying mundane roles. Many of them are dependent on their husbands and family and have little life of their own. Thus many women felt trapped in their mother role, unable to express their maiden or crone side.
In ancient communities, the women was in charge of healing, with knowledge of herbs and psychic powers to understand the balance in energies. Mental illness is a community responsibility and healing is often done in a circle, together with dancing, chanting, burning herbs, energy raising rituals. However , it is the ultimate self love and self healing that the illness is eliminated. Today, the medical profession replace ancient healing methods, with impersonal approach.
Women's curves of the body used
be to be described hills, valleys of the earth -The swell of hips and protruding
breasts. One such idol is Marilyn Monroe, where a healthy size 14 is considered
sexy. The ancient Chinese dynasty Emperor used to keep concubines who are
curvy and voluptuous. Thin women weren't considered attractive then, but
today we see thousands of young women starving themselves to be the Kate
Moss or Ally McBeal. The patricarchal Goddess is anorexic!!!!
