I downloaded/received by email GoldExI's zip file. How do I install GoldExI?
Unzip all files into the directory of your choice e.g. "C:/Program Files/GoldExI".
After
this, run GoldExI32.exe. Sometimes Windows cannot run GoldExI and
complains about missing DLLs (DBGHELP.DLL and/or MSVCRTD.DLL). Those
are needed by the beta version only and included in DLL subfolder.
Copy them to the same directory as GoldExI32.exe and try to run
GoldExI32.exe again.
Tip:
To make everyday life easier, you can create a shortcut to
GoldExI32.exe and place it in the start menu or on the desktop.
After you run GoldExI, it should show you the list of the NI-cards installed in your computer. This will work only if you have cards properly installed, and NI-DAQ configuration utility, the so-called MAX (Measurements and Automation eXplorer), properly configured so that it recognizes the cards and can communicate with them. If this is so, this means that NIDAQ is properly installed and GoldExI can work with cards via NIDAQ. Installing the cards and tuning NIDAQ is your own business -- it has nothing to do with GoldExI.
If instead of card name GoldExI shows the card ID (just a number), it means that you use the card which is very new and not listed in nidaq.ini file which is located in the same directory as GoldExI32.exe. Still, GoldExI will work correctly with this card, but only ADC gain 1 can be used. If you want GoldExI to mention this card by name and to make accessible all possible ADC gains, you have to edit nidaq.ini file.
If GoldExI finds cards with at least one DAC and one ADC in total (among all cards), then we arrive to the point of working with the program itself. At this point you may read "Getting started: How to measure V(I)" which gives an introduction to the main concepts and procedures.

started: How to measure V(I).
