Golf Weekend Competition Formats
Formby Hall Golf Weekend Formats
This year I have reduced the number of formats - over the course of the weekend we will play 3 rounds for 3 main trophies. The overall trophy will be the 'Extended Stableford' format, the 2 Memorial Trophies will be based on best nett, the final format will be matchplay against the course i.e. Bogey format.
All weekend formats are listed below :
Format 1 - Individual, Extended Stableford (3/4's handicap) - Overall Individual Competition - Played over 3 rounds - see format details below.
Format 2 - Individual, Best Nett Score (3/4's handdicap) - Kevin McCloskey Trophy - Single round played Saturday. Kiera Lauren Jones Memorial Trophy - Single round played Sunday.
The next format will make up the daily competitions for cash prizes, all 3 of these games will be based on the Bogey format.
(£2 per player per day entry fee).
Format 3 - Bogey (Full handicap)- Single round played Friday,
Saturday & Sunday.
Golf Weekend Formats in Detail
Format 1 - Extended Stableford
The Extended Stableford format was simplified in 2007 to avoid confusion, all bonus points have been removed. The extended stableford scoring system remains as last year as does the penalty for a 10 or a N/R but that's it, nothing else to remember.
Note : For speedy play and good etiquette once you hit the magic 10 you should pick up your ball and mark N/R on your card.
The 'Extended Stableford' scoring system as you are aware differs slightly from normal stableford in that you will get greater rewards for better play, but penalised for sloppy play.
The weekend scoring system for 2009 will be as follows:
5 points for a nett Eagle
4 points for a nett Birdie
3 points for a nett Par
2 points for a nett Bogey
1 point for a nett Double Bogey
Very simple format for the Kevin McCloskey & Kiera Lauren Jones Trophy's. Your total gross score less your 3/4's handicap. N/R's on card will be scored as a 10.
Fun format - played for cash prize - £2 per player entry fee per day.
Played Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
The Bogey format is individual matchplay against the course. The Bogey format will be off your full handicap, your score on each hole versus the par for the hole.
Each day the best results will be rewarded as follows:
1st - £7
2nd - £6
3rd - £5
4th - £4
£2 will be held back each day, the overall matchplay winner over the course of the 3 rounds will win a further £6.
