Edward Hibbert was born in Long Island, New York on September 9th. Not long after his birth the Hibbert Family, including young Edward and his sister, moved to England, where he was bought up. Edward attended The Royal Academy of Dramatic arts in London and then moved back to New York in the mid 1980's.

Besides his role as Gil Chesterton in Frasier, Edward has also appeared in Caroline In The City (although not as Gil, unlike David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves who both played their Frasier roles in that show), Mad About You and Married With Children, as well as several others.

His film credits include The First Wives Club with Goldie Hawn and Bette Milder, Everyone Says I Love You, Britannia Hospital and it Had To Be You. These are just 4 of them. He also provided the voice of Zazu in the Disney film The Lion King II: Simba's Pride after Rowan Atkinson (better known to Brits as Mr Bean or Blackadder), who did the voice in the first film, was unavailable. He also appeared in the remake of Fantasy Island in 1998 (which explained Gil's tan during Season 6 of Frasier!) and in the play Noises Off, which explained Gil's absence during Season 9. Edward Hibbert was able to return to the role during the final two seasons however.

He currently divides his time in London, New York, and Los Angeles.
