Fan Fiction - "Back To Seattle Part 3
Boston, MA
May 7th 1993
"Here's to you Frasier!" the crowd cheered. Frasier looked around. He was in Cheers, at a special goodbye party for him. Everyone at Cheers had been quite sad when Frasier had told them he was leaving and Sam had arranged this goodbye party for him. All of Frasier's friends were there.
"We'll be sad to see you go Fras," Norm told him.
"Oh, don't worry Norm, I'll come back and visit every now and then," laughed Frasier.
The others all had similar things to say, even Carla, who said she would miss making fun of Frasier. Frasier laughed again.
"One more beer Woody," he said to the barman. Woody looked away from Frasier.
"Woody, what's wrong?"
"I'm going to miss you Dr Crane," Woody said, almost in tears. Frasier smiled at him. "I'll miss you too Woody."
The gang at Cheers had saved up to buy Frasier a present - a new watch. Frasier was thrilled and put it on. The party then turned into a fun evening with lots of beer drinking, and as Sam helped Frasier out of the taxi and into his house, Frasier realised what he was leaving behind.
Such great friends, he thought. I'm a very lucky guy. And I'm giving them up. No, I'm not! I'm moving away to start a new life, to get over the pain of my divorce, but my friends will always be there for me.
-----
Frasier woke up next day with a massive hangover. He was glad he wasn't moving that day! Instead he would start his drive to Seattle the next day. Today, once he'd recovered, he would be spending the day with someone very special - his son.
That afternoon, he took Frederick to his favourite park and the two sat down.
"Daddy, why are you going away?" Frederick asked.
"I'm moving back to Seattle - you know, where Grandpa lives," said Frasier. "I'll be on the radio!"
"Wow!" said Frederick, excited. "Can I listen?"
"No, sorry," said Frasier. "My show won't be on the radio here, only in Seattle."
Frederick looked gloomy, so Frasier said, "How about we play on the swings? You love those."
"Yeah!" said Frederick happily. After the swings, Frasier took his son to McDonald's (the first time Frasier had ever been in one, although Frederick had been in before with some friends.) and after Frederick helped his father order (much to Frasier's embarrassment, as one of his former patients was taking the order) they went back to the park for ice cream.
That night, Frasier put his son to bed for the last time for a long time, and as he turned off the lights he shed a small tear.
-----
"Frasier, are you ready?" Lilith asked. Frasier was making sure he had packed everything, and was putting the suitcases into his car. Personally, Lilith thought Frasier was nuts driving to Seattle instead of flying, but she kept quiet. Frasier had wanted to do this, have some time to himself before starting his new job.
Frasier closed the car door and walked to his family and friends, who had come to see him off. He said his goodbyes to the guys from Cheers, and gave Lilith a final hug. It was odd, legally they were still married until the 12th, and Frasier felt as if was abandoning her in a way.
"Take care Frasier," said Lilith. She held up Frederick so the boy could say goodbye.
"Bye Freddie," Frasier told him. "I'll phone you every night and come to see you soon."
"I love you Daddy."
"I love you too."
Frasier got into his car and drove off, as his friends said their goodbyes.
-----
"A room for one please," Frasier told the receptionist. He had been driving for one day and was spending the night at the Jolly Gardener Motel.
When he was in his room, Frasier picked up the phone. Dialling 1-206-555-6453, he waited for Niles to answer.
"Niles, it's me. I'm in some kind of hell known as a motel."
"A motel? You? There's something I never thought I'd hear," his brother answered.
"Stop sniggering, it's just for the night. Anyway, just to let you know I'm on my way home. How's the apartment?"
"It should be ready tomorrow." Frasier had bought a new apartment in Seattle, number 1901 Elliott Bay Towers. He had seen it in a brochure and had fallen in love with it. Plus, the view was a marvel.
"Good, good."
"I saw Dad this afternoon," said Niles.
"How is he?"
"He's OK, he's coping, but he nearly fell twice yesterday. Plus Eddie keeps staring at me!"
Frasier chuckled. His father's dog was always staring at Niles, and Frasier found it very funny, although he imagined it wouldn't be if Eddie were staring at him. Thank goodness that would never happen!
The brothers talked for a bit before Frasier hung up and settled down to sleep.

Seattle, WA

Frasier looked around at his new apartment. The Elliott Bay Towers, number 1901. It was odd living alone again, but he could get used to this.
His new show at KACL would start in exactly one week's time. Frasier had been in for a "practise" earlier, where he'd met up with his producer Dave and learnt how to work the equipment. Frasier was still a bit uneasy about this, he still made mistakes, but he was assured that everyone did this. He had also met the sports jock, "Bulldog." Rude, sexist - Frasier didn't think he'd like Bulldog that much.
Frasier sat down on his new Chanel couch. He'd bought it from the previous tenants after seeing it and falling in love with it. He started reflecting on the past couple of weeks.
A new life, a new job, a fresh start. Of course, I'll have to go and see Dad every now and then, but not that often - after all, it's not like I'm moving in with him. Maybe I'll see him once a week or so. I hope he got his birthday present from me though. I'm sure he'll like that Armani shirt. I know I would. Actually, maybe once a week's not enough. Maybe Dad and I could get reacquainted somehow. Spend some more time together. Anyway no more Lilith! It's strange, I feel free! Like an evil force has been erased from my life!
Frasier chuckled at that, and turned on the TV. The rest of his life was about to begin.
