Jane Leeves was born in London and was raised in East Grinstead, West Sussex with her two sisters and a brother. She was born on April 18th 1961. Her dad was an engineer and her mum a nurse.

Jane has always wanted to be an actress, writing in her schoolbook that she wanted to be an actress when she was 5 years old. Later, she wanted to perform as a ballerina, but she injured herself when she was 18 which ruled that out. She continued doing less strenuous dancing in TV adverts and music videos, as well as doing some modelling. She was also a dancer on The Benny Hill Show, for which she was best known to British viewers until Frasier came along.

Jane decided to move to Los Angeles when she wanted to break out of the dancer mould and accomplish her childhood dream of being an actress. She soon won a role on the series Throb, playing a character named Blue. She also played Audrey Cohen, the girlfriend of Murphy Brown's Miles Silverberg; and the virgin who beds John F Kennedy Jr on the hit sitcom Seinfeld. Other credits on TV include a starring role in Pandora's Box, an NBC mini-series, and of course Frasier, for which she earned an Emmy Award nomination.

Jane's films include Miracle On 34th Street (1994) with Richard Attenborough, To Live And Die In LA, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Don't Go Breaking My Heart with Anthony Edwards (of ER fame) and the voice of the ladybird in James & The Giant Peach.

Jane Leeves lives in Los Angeles with her husband Marshall Coben (who has made a cameo in Frasier) and her cat. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking for large groups, participating in sports (or 'sporty things,' as she says) and working out in dance classes. She is also involved with her production company, Bristol Cities, which is a joint project with co-star Peri Gilpin (Roz).

Jane and Marshall have a daughter, Isabella Kathryn, and a son Finn William. Recently, Jane became Britain's highest paid actress when she was given £275,000 an episode. She has also recently guest starred in The Simpsons as Edwina, an old flame of Abe Simpson's.
