Wendie Malick was born on December 13th 1950 in Buffalo, NY, USA. She has many ethnic origins, including English, French, German and Egyptian! Wendie graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1972 and during the 1970s she modelled for Wilhelmina. She also appeared in commercials for the "Mall of America".

She turned to TV and got her first role in 1978's How To Pick Up Girls. More TV roles in shows such as Trauma Center and Paper Dolls followed in the early 1980s. Wendie's introduction to the Frasier universe may have began 21 years earlier than it did, as in 1982 she auditioned for the role of Diane in Cheers! Of course Shelley Long got the role, but Wendie got more roles, including that of Gayle Buchannon in Baywatch from 1989 - 1994. She also branched into film, with roles in Apollo 11 and The American President, which co-starred her future screen boyfriend John Mahoney!

Perhaps her most famous role (other than as Ronee of course!) is that of Nina Van Horn in Just Shoot Me. Wendie won the role in 1997 and stayed with the sitcom until its demise. She continued acting in films whilst playing Nina, appearing in Jerome and lending her voice to Disney's The Emperor's New Groove, a role she is currently reprising in the sequel. She got the role as Ronee Lawrence in Frasier in 2003 and appeared in a lot of episodes in the final season.

Wendie has been married twice, to Mitch Glazer from 1982 to 1989, and Richard Erickson from 1995. She and Richard help build homes for poor families in Mexico and America through the Adopt-A-Family project.
