Zindai temple is Buddhist temple and it means, "this temple is founded in prehistoric times (To tell the truth, its founding age is 1200 years ago.) But because of a battle, most ancient building is an entrance gate, which was made 400 years ago. I guess you can see a thatched roof.

You may feel strange to hear there are many worshipers and tourists in this temple despite of repair. Why? Seeing other building and gate is of course one reason. But main reason is they can enjoy a good time outside this temple. Zindai Temple district is famous for good Soba (buckwheat noodles) restaurants (more than 20 restaurants). According to the rumor, because of a good groundwater, "Zindai Temple Soba" is delicious. I myself have a same opinion. Soba is not an expensive food and I guess you can feel Japanese atmosphere to eat Soba. So, I truly recommend you to try Soba. And you can eat "Soba Dumpling" and "Steamed Soba Bun." I like food of Zindai Temple.
