There were 101 total sign-ins (approximately 30 Hondas). There were no disqualifications in tech, but there were many DNFs on the track. The weather was 68 degrees and overcast on Saturday (qualifying day), but 80 degrees and sunny on Sunday (raceday).
Bose trophies were awarded for 1st through 4th place. Power Plus provided oil for those who finished in fifth place. Fast Time clocks went to the fastest qualifiers. Red Ernie Bose World Record Holder jackets will be mailed to the fast qualifiers who set new Ernie Bose World Records.
The snack bar food was great and the tower did a good job (all those who work in snack shacks and scoring rooms are overworked and underpaid).
I was personally very happy to see 9-year-old Scott Dodd (the driver I provide a car and motor for), win the Senior Super Stock race. Especially since we had to start from the back (motor change). Scott has been doing that often this year (winning 1997 Senior Super Stock races at the 1st annual Galante (Madera), the Carlo Poggetto (Pomona), and other '97 "Main Events" at Pomona Raceway).
Long Haul award went to Brian Newman and the Newman family who travelled from Georgia. That is about as far as you can drive from the West Coast to the East Coast (on interstate 10 freeway).
Thanks to Discount Trophy in Fresno, CA for their work on our awards. Especially the "Fast Time" plaque/wall clocks that Rusty Lomier built (He owns Discount Trophy).
