You determine the color of the text on a webpage by:

You can also set the color of any element from borders to backgrounds. Here are some samples that are relatively "safe", meaning that you can expect these colors to look the same across most or all computers.

A vast range of colors can be created by changing the hexidecimal numbers, also known as hex triplets.

An example of a hex triplet would be #ff0000, which represents red.

Within the six digits/letters, the first two represent the amount of red, the next two represent the amount of green, and the last two represent the amount of blue. By varying the amount of red, green, and blue in the mix, you can generate many colors. The amount of red, green, and blue is represented by each of these pairs, which hold values that range from the extremes of 00 to ff.

The entire range looks like this: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, a, b, c, d ,e, f.

Black is an absence of the colors red, green, and blue, so the hex triplet would be:
#00 00 00

White. White is a flood of maximum amounts of red, green, and blue, so the hex triplet would be:
#ff ff ff

Now let's look at red. The first pair represents the amount of red. We have pure red, so we'll have the maximum amount of red, and no greens or blues. Hence, we get:
#ff 00 00
