Dunn's River
is located in "Ocho Rios" which has two possible origins: it is either a direct translation from Spanish meaning
"eight rivers" or an adulteration of "las chorreras" (the spouts),
reflecting the large number of waterfalls in the area. Ocho Rios is located
in St. Ann's parish about 60 miles from Annotto to Discovery Bay on a
half-moon shaped cove in the middle of Jamaica's northern coastline. The
Dunn's River cascades over a number of rock terraces on its way to the sea
and a beautiful beach. The stepping stones of the falls allow easy access
up and down their 600 feet, under a stimulating shower.
Mayfield Falls
is a little jewel of a water
fall located about 1 hour from Negril and will leave you breathless and
envigorated as you swim in the natural pools. Quite a vigourous workout
which is made much easier by the wonderful guides who will help to carry
your bags and let you enjoy the day in the proper manner. It is wise to
bring footwear that can get wet.
Y.S. Falls are located near
Manderville, close to Bamboo Ave. A must for Jamaican Vacationers who visit
the island. Every encounter with this wonderland is unique.
We got to swim in the water there, jump off a rope swing, jump off one of
the falls, & swim under one of the falls. We had a good time here. It was
so hot outside, and the water was nice and cool. ahhhhhhhh refreshing
But be warned - they are closed on Mondays (from May to November) and on
major holidays.
