INTRO
1. This Week's Headline
United States Humiliates Canadians
Canadians who were born in the Middle East have had a very, very difficult
time travelling to the U.S. lately. The Americans have humiliated them
by interviewing them for hours and then wanting fingerprints and a mug
shot. Even powerful businessmen. I know of one case in which even a Canadian
millionaire who was born in Iran was humiliated. Who is next? Koreans?
2. Today's Ha Ha
John the Idiot was sitting at home one day when there was a knock at
the door. It was his best friend, Dave the Idiot. Dave says: 'John, I've
just seen somebody stealing your car'.
'Did you get a look at the guy?' asks John.
'No,' replies Dave, 'but it's alright, I got his license plate number'.
3. Proverb Parade
Bits of wisdom in short sayings. Easy to remember and easy to use:
Don't bite the hand that feeds you. (traditional)
My dog, 풍이, doesn't bite. She's such good dog. When I call her, she comes.
When I tell her to stay, she stays. But some dogs aren't nice, and they
even bite their owner.
This proverb isn't about dogs, though. Do you talk bad about your parents?
Your boss? Your wife? These are the hands that feed you. Don't bite them.
4. Canadian Music Corner
A focus on Canadian East Coast music, mostly Nova Scotia, where I'm
from.
"Orangedale Whistle" by The Rankin Family
This is a song about the end of the passenger train. Trains built Canada.
It was the only way to travel in such a large country. But when cars became
common, many people stopped taking the train. This song is about one station
where the train doesn't come anymore.
