Lifestylers delight in believing that they have a reputation of being harsh, unreasonable, unfair and elitist. Those who question the validity of such a lifestyle, either because it is not possible, or if taken literally not desirable are frequently dismissed as being on the edge of their world, but refused admittance because of not coming up to Gorean standards. The response is liable to be the standard “Because you fear what we are, you refuse to admit we exist."

People who criticise, or question are liable to be told that they are jealous or fearful. Any challenging questions that they have are dismissed as being the result of the questioner desiring that they could be accepted by them. They often state that others are jealous because they are not part of the community.
