Unless all you have watched of
Evangelion is the battle scenes (wait a minute you can see 'em in those
too!) you have realized that EVA has many religious undertones.
 |
 |
 |
First
of all lets look at the title Neon Genesis (Shin Seiki) Evangelion. It
literally means The New Age Gospel. |
Who
is the earth's enemy? Angels. And how were they named? The Sephrodic
Tree. |
How
must the third impact occur? With the NERV losing the Spear of Loginus,
SEELE uses the Tree of Life! |
 |
 |
 |
The
EVAs resemble demons that were noted in the new testament. One had only
one eye (EVA-00). One had massive teeth and an evil smile (EVA-01). One
has four eyes and was red, the color of blood and war (EVA-02). And
finally one was black and was the sign of death and remained silent
(EVA-03). |
Have
you ever notices those little words under the NERV logo that this page
is names after? "God's In His Heaven. All's right with the world." |
Did
you notice that both Satchiel and Zuriel shoot energy beams that look
like crosses. In fact they are the only ones to actually penetrate the
GeoFront (yeah I know Kaworu was there but he was let in and technically
Satchiel penetrated it though I don't think he knew it was there ^_^ )
Also just ironic that both were killed by EVA-01 going beserk. |
 |
 |
 |
In
Rebirth EVA-02 launches and forms a massive cross beam as does EVA-01 in
End of Evangelion. |
Now
its not much but Misato always is wearing that cross around her neck. |
SEELE's
logo contains nine eyes. These nine eyes represents the nine eyes of
god. |

Noticed
that little design in Gendo's office, take a close look at this and tell
me there ain't nothing religious about this. |
Evangelion
are referred to as EVA. The literal German translation of EVA is "EVE."
The EVA was born out of Adam as Eve was in the old testament. |
And
of course the Spear of Loginus (the spear used to kill Christ in the new
testament) is piercing Lillith on a cross (as was the crusifiction of
Jesus he was pierced in the breat upon a cross.) |
Its also kinda funny if you think about how the Japanese don't exactly
like the Christian faith very much, *just a generalization due to
analyzation of history* they are fighting angels. Some people I have
actually heard refer to NGE as completely "tearing apart the
Christian faith." Now I don't share that view *mostly because I
belong to another of the world's four major religions* but a bunch of
people do feel that way.
