At the beginning we
meet Shinji Ikari. A young boy who seems very ignorant of everything
around him. Soon he learns he must pilot one of the giant Evangelions.

After defeating the
third angel and getting out of the hospital, Lieutenant Misato
Katsuragi is assigned as Shinji's guardian.
Shinji starts going to school where a boy named Toji Suzahara decides to get even at him
for accidentally injuring his sister in the fight with Satchiel. Later
they become friends after Shinji saves his life.
Shinji runs away
from Tokyo-3 and Katsuragi only to return after a school mate and
friend Aida Kensuke runs into him while on vacation.
Soon Shinji begins
to ponder about what the other pilot, Rei Ayanami, is like. He learns
about her prototype Evangelion (EVA-00) goning beserk. He and Ayanami
then team up to defeat the fifth angel.
The earth's
military defense force announce a prototype EVA that they believe can
replace the current EVAs by using a nuclear reactor but after it goes
out of control because of sabotage. Lukily the day is saved and
Shinji, Misato, and Ritsuko return home.
The second child
comes into picture and her name is Asuka Langley from Germany. She is
spontaneous and upbeat. Along with Ryoji Kaji and not to her knowledge
ADAM, they travel to Tokyo-3 only to be intercepted by an angel but
with the combined help of the UN fleet Asuka and Shinji, inside of
EVA-02 are able to defeat the angel.
The two of them are
forced to bond after a humiliating defeat and must use a choreographed
attack pattern based on music to defeat the angel only after having to
dress alike in front of Toji, Kensuke, and Asuka's new friend Hikari.
NERV locates an
angel inside a volcano and Gendo tells his second in command, Kozo
Fuyutski, that this is the time to go on the offensive and attack an
angel. Asuka tries to capture it only to be attacked by it and saved
at the last minute by Shinji.
A power outage
occurs in Tokyo-3 and NERV is included. After a hard effort by
everyone including Gendo himself. The three children defeat a rather
weak angel despite the complications.
Katsuragi starts to
remember why she joined NERV meanwhile an angel attacks Tokyo-3 and
almost destroys the city only to be thwaterd because of the great
teamwork of the children.
The MAGI is being
hacked by an angel only this time it is defeated nt by the EVAs but by
Maya Ibuki and Ritsuko Akagi.
Rei and Shinji try each other's
EVAs but when Shinji enter's Rei's the EVA beserks and it appears as
though Rei's EVA tried to kill her.
Shinji and Gendo
visit the grave of Yui Ikari. Meanwhile Misato gets royally drunk at a
wedding and professes her love for Kaji and later he reveals that NERV
has ADAM.
A shadow/black hole
angel attacks Tokyo-3 and Shinji gets sucked in but the EVA beserks
just as life support runs out and the angel is destroyed from the
inside.
The fourth child is
chosen and its Touji. Unfortunately the 13th angel takes control of
EVA-03 and EVA-01 with the dummy plug destroys it and nearly kills
Touji.
The fourteenth
angel comes very close to destroying NERV and Shinji reaches 400% sync
ratio. He is absorbed by the LCL but then returns.
Commander Fuyutski
is kidnapped by Kaji and the events of the past about Gendo and Yui,
Kozo and Dr. Nyako Akagi come to surface.
We finally get to get a view in Asuka's past after she is mentally raped by the fifteenth
angel.
Rei sacrifices her life to save Shinji from being destroyed by the sixteenth angel.
We finally meet
everyone's favorite minor character, Nagisa Kaworu, the seventeenth
angel who alot of people think is gay. Is he coming out of the closet
like Ellen?
