MARTIRE

Don Taylor (guitar, vocals); Vince Feleppa (vocals, guitar); The Serpent Inquisitor (drums); The Great Righteous Destroyer (bass)

Extreme and outrageously raw and brutal death metal oblivion is what Adelaide's veterans Martire are all about. One of the longest serving warriors on the Australian underground battlefront, Martire has been around in one form or another since 1986. The debut album was recorded in 1991 with Feleppa, Tony Vlav (guitar), Dave Hopgood (drums) and Frank Usmiami (bass) and while originally intended as a demo was released on CD by Dominator Records. Martire shows the band as a raw and extreme blur of crushing and brutal unrestrained death metal. The band supported Morbid Angel in 1992 and since then has suffered continual line-up hassles. Taylor joined in 1995 and since then The Serpent Inquisitor and The Great Righteous Destroyer from Stargazer have been drafted into the Martire experience. The band released a split 7" with Angelcorpse in 1999, and while a long promised second album remains just that for now, German label Merciless released another 7" EP in May 2001. Taylor is also a member of Slaughter Thou and Oni.
