ONI

Don Taylor (guitar, vocals); Mat Butt (drums); Pahl Hodgson (vocals, bass); Jason van den Driesen (guitar)

Relentless and mayhemic American-style death metal hell issues from this Adelaide band whose strange name is that of a Japanese demon. Oni was another band for the ubiquitous Don Taylor, who is also involved in Martire and Slaughter Thou; in fact all members are from other bands including Deluge and Stargazer. A split with Jesus Anal Penetration was released in 2001, after which Van den Driesen left the band. Oni appeared at the Bloodlust festival in 2002 and again in 2003, during which Butt played half a set filling in for Incantation's drummer who had been injured the night before in a car accident. Shortly after this, Taylor decided to quit the band. Hodgson and Butt will continue under the new name of Beyond Mortal Dreams.
