JULY 28, 2002

When I woke up, I was filled in about everything.  Dr. P.S.'s on call doctor came in and talked with us for a while.  My dad called Dr. S's answering service and was told that Dr. K would come in after going to church.  When he finally came, he barely checked me.  All he did was look in my right ear, my throat and my nose.  He asked if I was feeling better and I told him I was feeling a little better. (Meaning that I was able to open my eyes and move my head.)  When my parents asked why he didn't admit me, he said it was because I was on other medications not related to the Meniere's and the nurses would have been calling him all night regarding them.  Still confused, my parents started asking more questions.  He interrupted them, turned to me, and asked again if I was feeling better.  When I said "Well, yeah, a little bit," he slammed my chart closed, said "Okay.  I've treated my patient.  I'm done."  My mom happened to be standing between him and the door (typical cramped hospital room) and he pushed her out of the way and stormed out while we were all yelling for him to come back.  We filed a complaint with the hospital and the administrators have visited with my parents twice.  The medical director of the hospital was notified and was upset and will be getting in touch with both Dr. S and Dr. K.  So, we still have no idea as to why I am so ill.  They put me on numerous medications to help control the nausea and vertigo.  So far, the only ones that have helped are the ones for the vomiting.  I am on IV fluids because I haven't been able to eat.
