JULY 29, 2002

This morning I awoke with Dr. P.S. here. She told us that the reason Dr. K didn't want to admit me is because he gets paid more ($150 for 15 minutes) as a consulting doctor.  Apparently this is a common problem with "specialists."  Soon after Dr. P.S. left, Dr. S came in.  He said nothing and asked nothing about the "incident."  He also claimed that he hadn't recommended that I taper off my medications at this time.  A clear lie.  Both me and my parents heard him say that.

We have since called Dr. P.S. and told her that we want another ENT.  We now have an appointment at Virginia Mason with Dr. B.  I started to get a sharp pain behind my right ear and the nurse had to call Dr. S.  I started crying because I didn't want to see him.  Sure enough, he came.  I was shaky and in pain and very dizzy, but I managed to speak to him for awhile about how I was disappointed.  Of course, he admitted no wrong doing.

He said that it's very uncommon to have these sorts of problems over two weeks after surgery.  And we still don't know why.  I have eaten a bowl of chicken noodle soup and two pudding cups since Saturday night.  I still can't go to the bathroom without help.  My mom had to wheel me into the shower room and bathe me.  This is an utterly humiliating experience.  I am still really nauseous, even on the anti-nausea medication.
