  Some of my favorite books:

The Mythical Man Month. Frederick P. Brooks. Probably the best book about Software Engineering.

Windows++. Paul diLascia. Excellent book about Windows and Object oriented programming. Free software on Paul's home page. Paul's writing style is unequalled - you might even forget that you're reading a computer book...

Writing Solid Code. Steve Maguire. A must for every programmer. Tips for streamlining your code, avoiding bugs, make it more readable, etc.

Code Complete. Steve McConnel. A book covering many aspects of software developing. Also touches software quality and debugging issues.

Inside COM. Dale Rogerson. A well written and readable book about COM.

How Debuggers Work. Jonathan B. Rosenberg. So far the only book about writing a debugger. The approach is quite high-level and OS independent.

Professionelles Software Debugging unter Windows NT. D. Zimmer et. al. A German book dedicated to Debugging. The last chapter contains a tiny COFF debugger, which initiated the GoVest! project.

Debugging Windows Applications. John Robbins. From the author of the MSJ Bugslayer articles. Excellent new book with lots of tips including how to write a Win32 debugger ...
