1616 in Southwold, Suffolk, Eng.. He was baptized on 1 Oct 1616 in Southwold,

data is available about the pioneer Robert Harrington. After his father died

of his mother in 1630. It is believed his passage from Ipswich to New England
aboard the "Elizabeth", was subsidized by Deacon Thomas Hastings in
exchange for his services during the following six years. In 1640, Thomas Hastings
gave Robert land in Watertown described in town Records, page 67 of Land, Grants
and Possessions as a homestall of six scres bounded on the South with the highway,
the North with Joseph Bemis the East with Nathan Fisk and the West with Thomas
Fleg. The town of Watertown was settled by over forty familes from Suffolk
and Essex Counties in England.
Robert took the oath in 1652 and became freeman 27 May 1663. He was a member
of the First Church of Watertown, elected surveyor of highways in 1654 and was
selectman from 1679-1700. In 1664 and 1665 he was elected as constable. He
was a miller and mill owner.
In December 1684 he purchased from Jeremiah Dummer, 250 acres situated in the
southwest half of the Oldham farm. In September 1685, he purchased 55 acres
from Simon Cooledge and gave them to his son Joseph. This parcel was the original
lot granted by the town to Henry Green.
His will, dated 1 January 1704/05 [Middlesex Probate], assigned executorship
to sons Daniel and Edward. In the will he mentions sons John, Daniel, Benjamin,
Samuel, Thomas, and Edward, to whom he gives his homestead. Also mentioned are
dughters Susanna Beers, Mary Bemis, Sarah Winship, and grandchild Joseph, son
of his deceased son Joseph, and daughter-in-law Joanna (Ward), widow of his son
