Celeste
There once was a woman by
the name of Celeste,
Whom I saw at Homecoming and our conversation was the best;
Since that day has passed my life has changed by the minute,
Because I believe that Celeste is "The One" so lets get with it;
For some odd reason I have
the tenacity to put my feelings on paper,
So that anyone may comprehend and understand just how much I need her;
Her eyes are like diamonds with a sparkle like no other,
Piercing my soul like a hot knife through butter;
Her smile is radiant and beautiful causing me to experience crazy stages,
Her smile is so warm and loving as though it could melt ice for the ages;
I have made a commitment to
Celeste and also to myself,
That I would be the best black man I can be without any help;
I don't need anyone else except for my eccentric baby momma,
For the first time in life I can experience a relationship that isn't surrounded
by drama;
I have my life planned out
down to the specific detail,
Now and only now can I really, really tell;
What that feeling is supposed to be,
When someone says that I knew I wanted her when she walked up to me;
It's true, it's true and I
will say it again and again,
Because the happiness I feel has no definite end;
I ask myself and God why do I deserve such treatment,
Knowing that I haven't always been the best example or the most proper gent,
But maybe I have done some
good things during my time on earth,
So I am not going to doubt God's purpose nor am I going to doubt my worth;
So I say to you and to everyone else that I, Gerald, am expressing my love,
To the one and only Ms. Celeste Thompson that God has obviously sent to me
from up above;
Thank you Celeste
for becoming such a special part of my life, heart and mind;
And I hope God blesses me to keep you where you are because you are a really
great find.

Ever wonder why someone would be forced to play two roles?
Forced in such a way that you would think it is part of someone’s master goal.
So truly what am I supposed to be?
Light brown,
Light-skinned,
Red,
Or light, damn near white?
Which is it?
Which is it not?
Do my fellow brothers and sisters purposely question my color for a specific
reason?
Is it?
Jealousy,
Mockingly,
Or just the overall SOCIETY?
Open your minds, your hearts and allow yourself to make the hatred stop,
You may not see or understand but it is my plan to let you comprehend what it
is to be me.
Is it such an atrocity to be unique, but am I so because of the color of my
skin?
No, I cannot say that I believe so!
I am unique because of my mind, heart and soul.
So for all of you who don’t know, know your damn role.
How am I to win?
The battle that rages on every single day,
I am tired of it and don’t want to play.
F--- the jokes, F--- the cracks, F--- the snide remarks!!!
Let me be the ONE without feeling obligated to get on my knees,
To pray for thee, because you let SOCIETY determine what you see out of your

My knees start to shake,
