"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself
to the possibility of becoming partly a dog."  -- Edward Hoagland

This is Abby.  Isn't she sweet?  Abby came to us from Golden Years Senior Placement in Ohio.  Abby just turned 7 years old in August.  Abby, aka Mesa GoFar Gal, was a racer until she broke a hock.  Since she comes from greyt racing lines, she also spent some time having puppies.  Now she is enjoying the full life of retirement.  That smile tells it all.

Abby came from Ohio via a GUR.  That's short for Greyhound Underground Railroad.  That's where wonderful people volunteer to drive a dog going to its forever home.  Sometimes many people get involved.  It just depends on how far the dog is from the destination.  Abby's GUR took about 6 hours.  She started near Cleveland, OH, then down through Pennsylvania, on to Maryland where we picked her up and then home to Virginia.   Abby and I would like to thank Kelly Graham of Golden Years for arranging the adoption and transfer and also Jennifer, Ruth, Kay and Peg for doing the driving.

Abby is such a sweetheart.  She warmed up to everyone immediately.  She is very ladylike and dainty.  She loves to ride in the car.  She loves to explore in the house and has no problems with the stairs.  However, on the way down she takes one step at a time.  No bounding and leaping for this little girl.

"No one appreciates the very special genius of your conversation as the dog does."
