John Hudson was living in Madison County in 1808 before moving to Barren County. He would later return to Madison County, Kentucky before 1831. His property in Madison County bordered Edward Broaddus' land.

Her name was found in the Madison County, Kentucky Deed Book L, pg. 464. The deed was made in
Barren County, Kentucky on 7 January 1817. This may explain the early birthdate of Elijah Thomas Hudson before John Hudson's marriage to Frances Brockman in 1822. Further research is needed to verify this marriage.

- Henry [Hendrick] Hudson, b.ca. 1570/12 September 1570?, d. 1611 at or near Hudson Bay,
abandoned, along with his son John, by his crew.
Emmanuel Van Meteren, Dutch consul in London and chief of the college of Dutch Merchants of
London, 1583, is the "authority for the statement that a warm attachment existed between Hudson and our
valiant 'Virginian.' Capt. John Smith."

Katherine Hudson was left very poor when Henry and John failed to return from their last voyage.
She tried to get the East India Company, which sponsored the trip, to send out a rescue mission.
Three years after Henry Hudson's disappearance, she applied to directors of the East India
Company.
They recognized their obligation to the 'man who lost his life in the service of the Commonwealth'
and
sent a ship to look for Hudson. It never found any trace of the abandoned crew.
