In the 1870 Jackson County Census Nellie is listed in the household of her father John Baker Harrison.  Nellie's first husband possibly died of fever in 1863 or was killed during the Civil War about the same time.   Her first name is also spelled as Nella.  Children from Nella's first marriage to Samuel J. As listed on marriage certificate, this was her second marriage, residence given as Evergreen, Owsley County, Kentucky.  Also identified on the certificate are Joseph's parents, Jesse and Susanna Smith.  Alpha first married William Franklin Amyx.  She was born in Lee County, Virginia.  Her father was M. Willson and her mother was Susan Reasor.  Her father fought for the Confederate States and was captured at Cumberland Gap and held prisoner at Camp Douglas, Illinois where he died of small pox on 13 December 1864.  Susan remarried James Curtis Hale and this family moved to Owsley County, Kentucky. As noted on Alpha Wilson Amyx marriage certificate she gave her residence as Owsley County, Kentucky.

    Stratten and his wife Casphania moved to Franklin, Ohio between 1900-15. Stratten supposedly was killed riding on a horse drawn wagon when the horse bolted and he was thrown off suffering a skull fracture. Casphania died and Stratten remarried and may have had between 10 to 12 children. "Albert moved to the Great Plains. He had entered the Nazarene Church as a minister and had his first calling to Nebraska. Over the next 12 to 15 years he moved from church to church as was the case for most ministers in those days. Albert and Tressie divorced in 1941 and he was forced to give up the ministry. After the war he moved to the state of Washington and settled in Pasco, having been hired to work at the Hanford Nuclear Plant being built there. He died about 1978." From Mike Roberts. George W. Witt was captured at McLamore's Cove, Georgia 21 September 1863 and died while beening held prisoner at the Confederate General Hospital, No. 8 at Raleigh, North Carolina on 21 February 1864. George's brother, Stephen Cox Witt, married Margaret Davis daughter of Isaac Davis and Margaret McSwain, gggg grandparents on my maternal side.

James Smith married Matilda Abrams (f. Gabriel) 17 Jan 1850 at Madison County Kentucky, FG: Jesse Smith

In the 1870 Jackson County census a William A. Witt, b. 1859 and Malissa J. Witt, b. 1861 are listed with the household. This most likely means that Selena's first husband was killed during the war.

Wiley Smith's death certificate lists his mother as Mary Waggoner.  It was nearly 60 years after the death of Susannah Waggoner that the death certificate was filled out, therefore, it is most likely a mistake.  A Lewis Smith reported Wiley Smith's death.
