KEEPING HEARTH AND HOME TOGETHER: Household Tips in A Busy World
Where Did My Day Go? Have you ever gotten to the end of your day and realized that you didn't get through half of the things you needed to get done? I have found that I am too scatter-brained to remember all the things I need to do in a week without writing them down. I keep a weekly planner and write down the tasks I need to do, alloting a few of them for each day. On days that are extremely busy, I will often write down an hourly list. That way, I can keep myself on schedule. I also try to include "flex time" (catch-up time or time just to sit down and relax) in my day. But most importantly, begin each day with the Lord. Schedule time with him each day to pray and the read His Word. You will find that your day is far less hectic when You ask Him to guide you daily. What's For Dinner? Sometimes we fall into a rut of making the same three or four dishes all the time. I have found that every once in awhile, it is good to take a few minutes out of a day and sit down with some cookbooks (preferably ones with nice pictures.) As I flip through the pages, I get inspired to try some new dishes and exotic cuisines. I am admittedly a mediocre cook, but I enjoy providing food for my family and friends. I have found it helpful to make up a list of meals I know how to make well. I recently spent an afternoon making up my own "Menu." This helps me remember to vary my dishes, not necessarily with new, difficult meals but with the ones I already know how to make. I have found it helpful at the beginning of each week to plan out which meals I will be making. That way, I can go to the grocery store with a plan in mind. I also have my husband "order" what kind of lunches he wants that week, so we won't have to scrounge in the refridgerator each morning. I'm sure many of you have some helpful tips for your household duties. I would love to hear some and post them on this page. If you would like, you can send them to me below. Related Links
