As the years go by, sometimes we need to rekindle romance in our marriages. Romance can be maintained throughout marriage, and it doesn't have to involve a budget most of us don't have. The main elements of romance are creativity, variety, and spontaneity. Here are some romantic ideas to surprise the special man in your life.

1. How about treating your husband to a romantic meal once in a while? The old saying, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach" may not always be so far from the truth! You could surprise him with his favorite dish or try your hand at some special new recipe. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you create a romantic ambience. Scented candles, your good china, and some classical music in the background can all add to your special evening. End the night with a sweet dessert.

2. Remember how you used to send each other cards and gifts? You can still do these things when you are married! Send you husband a card to his office, or leave a little gift in his car. Gifts don't have to be large, expensive things, just thoughtful tokens specific to his likes.

3. Have a picnic together. There is something special about an al fresco lunch or dinner. Find a nice park or Botanical Garden that allows picnicing. Pack a nice lunch and bring some candles if you like. Then take an after-meal walk hand in hand and spend time enjoying God's creation and the gift He has given you in your marriage.

4. Be a tourist together. If you live in a big city, there are probably plenty of places that you have yet to visit, or places that you would like to revisit. Art museums are wonderful places to tour. Or, check your local paper for special events in your city. Open air concerts are always wonderful. Parades and festivals can also be great fun.
