Russian Bronze Icon Virgin of the Burning Bush XIXc.  The day of celebration for the icon "The Burning Bush" is September 4, the day in memory of the Saint and Prophet Moses. Particular worship of this icon in the Russian church began in the 168O c. Popularly, the icon is considered a protectress from fire.
Solid bronze. Circa 1800. Size 3"1/2 by 3"1/2 or 9 by 9 cm.

Br01-28  Bronze Scladen Deisus row.
The composition, in centre of which is expressed Vsederzhitel (The Christ), and on sides — turned to him Virgin Mary and Ioann Predtecia; except these main figures in Deisus there are often expressed Archangels Mihail and Gavriil, Apostles Petr and Pavel,other Saint and Saint Martyrs. The figures are located in strictly determined order, on rank. The Idea of the composition is the intercession of Saints for people before Christ. Deisus row (rank) is a main part of every Russian Churches IKONOSTAS . The Deisus is placed above the Altar doors and across the main doors to the church building .

Br02-51 Russian Bronze Icon Mather of God Kazan.
The Kazan icon is related to the iconographical type of hymn in praise of the Virgin, known as the Odigitry icon (Greek for guide ). This icon depicts the Virgin in half-.length with the blessing God-Child. In Byzantium, this iconography was related to the Vlakherin icon of the Virgin. In Russia, the icon was named after Kazan, the place of a miraculous occurrence on July 8, 1579. Prince Dmitry Pozharsky freed Moscow from the Poles with the Kazan icon of the Virgin on October 22, 1612. The church celebration of the icon occurs on these two days. In 1941 Kazan icon of Mother of God saved Moscow from germans. The Virgin of Kazan was considered the protectress of all- Russia and also of the Tsarist house of Romanovs.

Br02-52 Russian Bronze Icon Virgin Burning Bush.
The scene of the Virgin of the Burning Bush dates from the vision of the prophet Moses. On the Hill of Horeb, Moses saw a burning prickly bush, unconsumed by fire (the burning bush) described in the Book of Exodus, Chapter 3. The Virgin is depicted in the center of the eight-pointed star and on Her breast is Jesus Christ in clerical robes as the "Great High Priest, who hath passed through the heavens " (Epistle to the Hebrews, 4.14). In the Virgin's hands, Christ is portrayed as the Incarnated God-Child. In the right hand of the Virgin is a ladder, also an Old Testament attribute of the Virgin (Genesis, 28.12 -22). The eight-pointed star is created from two four-pointed stars. In the rays of the first star angels are portrayed with Old Testament symbols foretelling of the Virgin: a cherub with angels, an angel with tongs, an angel with an incense chest, and an angel with the Infant Emmanuel. In the rays of the second star are symbols of the four Evangelists: an angel (Matthew), an eagle (John). a calf (Luke). a lion (Mark).

Br02-53 Russian Bronze Iconof the Saint George.
Very popular theme, legend relates that in Lybia a group of inhabitants, pagans who worshipped a Dragon that lived in the lake offered human sacrifices. The princess was to be the next offering, and as she was being led to the marsh, Saint George rode by, cried out in the name of Christ, and slew the Dragon. The people who had witnessed the battle were converted to Christianity.

Br02-54 Russian Bronze Icon "PRESENTATION INTO THE TEMPLE".
According to Jewish custom the infant Jesus was brought to Jerusalem by Mary and Joseph who presented him to the Lord in the Temple (Luke 2:22-39). At the Presentation were St. Simeon, to whom it was promised that "he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ", and St. Anna the Prophetess, who hailed the Child as the Redeemer. Simeon, in accordance with the Gospel, takes the Child into his arms; The icon is in good condition. Very fine quality painting (see images).

Br02-55 Russian Bronze Icon  Mother of God "Three Handed".
The emergence of the iconographical type of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Three-Handed "is connected with the name of St John of Damascus (ca. 875-753). He was falsely accused before the emperor, who ordered his hand to be cut off. St John prayed before the icon of the Mother of God and, having heard his prayer, she worked a miracle: his hand grew back on to his arm.
