Fregatten Eugenie (1877)

Was launched 19 dec. 1844 on Carlskrona wharf, in duty in 1846. Armoured first time 22 may 1847,
with 36 cannons; 4 of 6 1/2 inch bomb cannons and 32 of the 24-punds cannons. But she was rearmoured several times. She was on 1354,6 tons

She is especially known by the round the world sailing she did in 1851-53. (described in two books, edited in 1854 and 55 with the title "Fregatten Eugenie's resa omkring jorden", by C Skogman)
She had a world record in speed with 11 days through the magellan channel,
that was never beaten by any other sailing ship.  An English ship was closest with 16 days and it was rather damaged.
Eugenie was "chopped down" 1876-77 on Carlscrona wharf to a corvette and from may 1888 lying at the harbour as a lodging and practice ship. With her degradation the sailing frigates disappeared from the navy. In 1901 she was once more 'degraded' to just a lodging ship, and the masts was removed.
She was sold in 1919 and was broken (rådbråkad) and chopped up as wood at Torekov
