Conjunctions

Conjunctions are words that join words or word groups together.

Coordinating Conjunctions

Coordinating conjunctions join similar elements, two words, two phrases, or two clauses. There are seven coordinating conjunctions: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, and so.

Subordinating Conjunctions

Subordinating conjunctions join two unequal elements, such as the dependent and the independent clause in a complex sentence. The subordinating conjunction goes with the dependent clause.

There are many subordinating conjunctions. Here are some of them: until, before, while, since, where, if, whenever, as soon as, so that.
