The Champions
What you've all been waiting for.... CONGRATULATIONS, WINNERS!
Drumroll, please! Here they are, the gems of the show, picked from so many great entries it was nearly an impossible task to find just five. But winners must be chosen, and these are the lucky horses. I think you'll agree they have certainly lived up to the title of "Grand Champions!"
These lucky winners will be treated to a fancy custom saddle pad to spruce up their next show pictures, and one lucky winner will take home a gorgeous custom foal! Who will it be? Scroll down, and find out!
Thanks to all our judges, and everyone who helped out with the show and prizes. And thanks to everyone who entered - terrific work! Keep it up, and we'll see you again this summer for our NEXT SHOW :D
Section #1 - Just About Horses
This section is all about the horse... whether it's a great stallion or a frolicking foal, a graceful mare or a chummly herd out grazing in the meadow, these pictures strive to capture the bare essence of this great and noble beast. We looked for pictures that had done just that - creating for a sense of who that horse is. Here, our winning picture is the family, at dawn, the mist still fresh on the grass. The picture creates such an atmosphere it brings the horses to life ... breathtaking ...!

Section #2 - A Horse of a Different Colour
They come in almost every shade imaginable, from earthy browns and ochers, to the palest hues of cream and golden sunset skies. They can have spots and patches, maps and stars, stripes and snowflakes, and they are all horses. To choose a colourful horse, we looked to pictures that showed off each colour's individual flair - and that isn't necessarily all flash and chrome, either! Colour is all about the delicate subtleties of the horse... and here is a lovely buckskin bathed in sunlight and shadows, just like his name.

Nearly every place in the world has horses, and each suited best for its little niche of existence! But how to compare the sleek, high-spirited Arab to the humble Shire, the artful Hanoverian to the steady Morgan? Can it even be done? In this class we looked to find the horse that best exemplified its breed, and what better than this snow-white drafter, who slips like a ghost between another time and our own...

Since the primordial beginning, man has been one with the horse. We tamed and cared for them, shared with them and built their lives around them; together we have galloped full speed into the future beyond. Eventing horses show their stuff in the show ring, the rodeo, and on farm; we may get to take home the ribbons, but everyone knows it's the horse who gets centre stage! Our pick for the events class goes to Sultan Pepper; not only are Arabians a hot contender in the Cross Country and Endurance circuit, this little horse get our vote as top of his class!
The Winner:

This is probably my favorite section of the show! After all the hard work is done, the stable is clean, the tack put away and the horse a shining example of good grooming (at least, until he finds that next dust bowl) what matters most about the horse is that we have such fun with them! This section allows you to do just that - and then some! - and the results are always fabulous. This year's theme was the Horse in Hollywood, and these wonderful montages had us in stitches with laughter! Of them all, we had to pick a winner. It wasn't easy, but I toss my hat to this one, hands down:

~ Honourable Mention ~
This should be "the best picture to never win" section, because in every show, there's a always a great picture or two that just seem to miss by a nose! Such was the case with this great picture, who won nearly all his calls to be trumped in the end by a fierce competition. Be sure to give Flash a round of applause anyway!
I just love this picture. There is a realism about it I just

can't put my finger on, but when I glance at it from aside, I
think that's a real QH galloping across the field!
Really, it gave me the spooks - and that's enough to take the
honors in my book.
Grand Champion Photo Show 2005
The Show Champion ~
And here it is... the picture that stole the show, won the prize, and gets to take home the bacon... or in this case, a custom by Whimsy Stables for their very own! Congratulations is in order for Caeti-Leigh Lewis, whose picture of Gulliver and the Little People is a story book brought to life!
Our previous winners may have been the typical pictures of great horses showing off thier best faces, but we decided there was no reason a playfully light-hearted work of make-believe couldn't hold its own in the show ring. After all, what makes a good picture is a combination of art, skill, and imagination; it's about knowing what your [model] horse can do, and bringing that to life.
For her achievement, Caeti-Leigh will receive "Windtalker" or another mini custom of her choice. And who knows? we might see him again in another show! |
All winners, please be sure to E-MAIL US about your prizes!
Congratulations again, to all our winners, and thanks to everyone who entered. Another big hand for everyone who helped behind the scenes, too - there wouldn't be a show without you! Hope to see everyone at our next show, and Best Wishes for 2006!
