Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Nesbit moved from Kentucky to Sullivan County, Indiana. This is adjacent to the south of Vigo county, where her father had settled. Elizabeth and Thomas came in the middle 1830s, according to reported birthplaces for their children.
On Oct. 1, 1840, Thomas Nesbit was issued two land patents in Sullivan county, Indiana by the US Land Office. He received 40.3 acres in the SW quarter of the NW quarter of Section 7, Twp 8N, range 8W of 2nd PM and 40 acres in the SE quarter of the NE quarter of Section 12, Twp 8N, range 9W of 2nd PM. These would be adjoining lands, just lying on two sides of the township boundary.
