The following was written by Perry's descendent Sam Gilmore:
Early on, Perry was a farmer. He left Nebraska for northeastern
Colorado in the mid 1880's, settling in Holyoke, Phillips County. In 1896,
he moved to Colorado Springs. Here he became next door neighbors of the
Grewell family in the 600 block of north Spruce. His children all attended
Bristol School (same school I [Sam Gilmore] attended in the 1950's.) Perry
worked as a teamster and laborer for the Grewells who had a coal yard.
His wife Alice moved to Long Beach, California following Perry's death in 1924.
