There is actually no evidence to show that Permelia is a daughter of Joel Matthews. Permelia has been suggested as a daughter of Joel by Richard Davis mostly since she was married in Pulaski county and Joel presided at her wedding.

There is a James Slone in the 1810 census of Pulaski Co., KY (p. 567). He's age 26--45 and is listed with a woman age 16--26. It seems likely it is this couple, but there is so little information in the census, it is hard to tell.
