One of the cemetery summaries says his tombstone gives the dates (along with ``given'' and ``taken'') and says ``I fear not death.'' The other, which was a re-summarized page done by a library volunteer said it had 1885 (not 1886) as death date and ``son of J.M. and M.J. Ballard.'' Since this second one was one more time removed, I'm going with the date from the first.

He's named simply Alva in an LDS AF submission, which has him born in 1867, seemingly in this family independent of his tombstone information.
