MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND HVAC - REFRIGERATION ENGINEERING
Course Aim:
This course is for people who work in any Manufacturing and Engineering industry or related service industry, and who want to complete a short course in engineering project management without having to complete a full diploma or advanced diploma in Manufacturing Technology or Mechanical Technology. You should be able to learn to apply proven engineering project management techniques to organise the supervision and installation of any engineering related project.Course Content: You can choose from specific project management modules that deal with a range of skills which are useful in a wide variety of manufacturing, supervisory, quality and service areas. These modules are nationally recognised. You must complete (or be exempt from) a total of 180 hours of study in an approved format in order to be awarded the Engineering Project Management Statement of Attainment (9875). The compulsory module is 1742E Project Management (36 hours). You must then select additional engineering project management elective modules to the value of 144 hours from a selected list of modules (these modules are industry specific ones, which enable a sharper focus on the industrial relevance of the competencies gained). When you finish one or more modules, you can apply for advanced standing in courses that have the same modules.
This course has minimum grouping requirements.
Course Duration: 180 hours minimum (10 hours a week for 18 weeks).
Attendance: Part time, day and/or evening. Flexible delivery mode is also available upon request.
Note: No pre-application is required. You should attend the college during the advertised enrolment period.
Entry Requirements: There are no formal educational requirements for this quality course. For some modules you must have specific skills before commencement. This could mean having to complete some pre-requisite modules.
Articulation: When you complete this engineering project management course all modules can be credited (advanced standing) to the Manufacturing Technology and Mechanical Technology Diploma and Advanced Diplomas and other courses in the Manufacturing and Engineering area (such as Mechanical Engineering courses).
Career Opportunities: Project Manager, Project Officer, Project Planner and Project Supervisor in the Manufacturing and Engineering Industries as well as in the Hospitality, Financial, Health and Education service areas.
