Great American
Golf Club
-- GAGC GUIDELINES --
The Rules of Golf: We play by the USGA rules of golf.  This is tournament play, which means no gimmies, no mulligans, no practice shots, and all strokes are counted until the ball is in the hole.  If you pick up, you automatically disqualify yourself from the tournament.  Simply put a DQ beside your name on the scorecard.  You will be eliminated from winning any low gross or low net prizes.  But you are still eligible to win closest to the pin, long drive, and longest first putt.  And even if you DQ yourself from our tournament, you still are required to post your score.
Post Your Scores -- non Tournament: Members must post their scores after each round of play.  This means ALL scores ... good and bad.  Each golf course clubhouse has a computer for posting your score.  If you cannot post your score for any reason, contact the Handicap Chairman and he will post it for you.
Tournament Posting: After each of our tournament rounds, around the 18th green you’ll find an envelope.  This is where you will put your group’s official scorecard. It is your responsibility to post your score on the course computer (usually found in the pro shop).  You'll record your adjusted score (if you have a handicap) or gross score (if no handicap).  Our Handicap Chairman can assist you with obtaining a temporary handicap after 5 scores.  Please contact the Handicap Chairman should you have any questions about handicapping.
Signing Up for Tournaments: In each monthly newsletter (e-mailed to you unless you have specified otherwise) there is a sign-up sheet for the next tournament.  Please pay close attention to the deadline on each month’s sign-up sheet.  Late sign-ups will be accommodated on a space available basis.  Additionally, tee times are based on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it behooves you to get your sign-up sheet in early.  You may sign-up as a foursome, threesome, twosome, or single (unless otherwise specified on the sign-up sheet).  If you bring a guest/non-member, they are not eligible to win any of the tournament prizes.  Payment must accompany the sign-up form.
Cancellations: If after you sign up for a tournament you find you are not able to play, you must let the Vice President in charge of pairings know of your cancellation.  Your tournament fee will be credited to you for future rounds, only if the course does not charge us.  Courses typically request a guarantee several days in advance and will charge us accordingly.  It’s always best to try and find a replacement for yourself.
NO SLOW PLAY!: Please keep pace with the group in front of you, REGARDLESS of whether or not the group behind you is on your heels.  Although we play with carts, take the initiative to walk to your next shot with a couple of clubs while your partner hits his/her ball.  Don’t spend more than 5 minutes looking for a lost ball.
Ready-Golf: Play ready-golf whenever possible. Step up to the tee and hit your ball – honors are not important to this group, but speedy play is. Same thing on the green; if you are ready to putt and the player farthest away isn't, please putt.  Please, don’t be guilty of SLOW PLAY!

The officers and their phone numbers/e-mails are listed in every newsletter. Please feel free to contact any one of them with your questions, concerns, or comments. We are here to assist and make your golfing experience with Great American Golf Club the best it can be.

Have a good one!
